the solution to sellers with rip-off prices is... don't buy from them. they're probably not shooters anyway, right?

How do you know they are shooters & not just immoral capitalists (maybe even liberals)? I just laugh at this stuff. Much like the "ammo shortage". I planned ahead. Anyone NOT seeing this shortage coming just wsn't paying attention.

I decided you were right so I changed my title. Not all shooters, I happen to know a least one of them is a reloader because I have shared info with him. Others are stores(at least resalers) because the reference new shippments arriving.

I happen to have enough to last me several years. Just happen to be looking for a buddy who was out of small rifle primers. He said he would pay going rate to purchase some of mine. So I thought I would shock the $hit out of him.

popcornWow, Fred! Me thinks there is a lot of territory between capitalists and liberals. IMHO a lot of this was caused by an over reaction to the election and the on going WARS which offered an opportunity for the gougeing that is now taking place.

Personally I am little affected as I am afflicted with a characteristic that never allows me to pass up a good deal. There are only two of us now but our freezers are loaded with choice cuts of most meats and other foods. fishing

Roll EyesI truely believe I have enough reloading components bought at GREAT PRICES to last me what time I have left on earth. When others were trying to hit it big in the market, I looked at reloading components as a truely wise investment along with taxe free low yield bonds. Eeker

Whenever I ran into a good deal( price and testing) powders, bullets and primers I tried to pass it on to those in our brotherhood. Some listened but most did not. Frowner

The component price upturn can not last forever. Metals prices have come down greatly and compenent prices will naturally and eventually fallow if we resist the emotional over price buying created by this self induced shortage enhanced by open Black Marketing. JMHO beerroger

I am spending a little less time at my range these days, but I have almost as much fun casting bullets for my 375 and bigger rifles. I expect the primer deal to get back to normal by year's end. I'll have plenty of bullets to load up by then.

If that is what it takes to get the Stock Market back to Sep07 Bush level(14K+), I'm all for it. thumb

I'd appreciate it if you would just go on and do it. I might want to make a swap or two and a bit HIGHER Stock value would make it easier to justify. Wink

Many, many smaller local gun shops are just now starting to run out of components. These smaller shops chose not to sell out the inventory for a quick buck on the net, nor artificially inflate prices; many of these same shops routinely offer some guns for sale on the net. I will not forget the guys who took care of the base customer. Kudos to those shops. Support your local gun shop!

Search the unlikely places. I found a hardware store in a town 20 miles from me a month ago that had all the primers you could want. I bought 6000.

Hey Roger, That was when pelosi and the DEMOCRATS got control of the Senate. Took them less than a year to start the Stock Market on the downward spiral to where it sets today.

If we could just get a Killer strain of the Swine Flu that only attacked DEMOCRATS and the people who jacked up the Oil prices.....

What we're looking at here is the law of supply and demand. Nothing like getting ripped a new one. If someone has the means to buy something he wants/needs, he buys it. I would bet that he isn't of the mind set that he was ripped off either, otherwise he wouldn't have bought it in the first place.
If that price is too much for you, by all means don't pay it...

So would there be anything wrong with the people who sell gas, food, ice & water after a Hurricane at a 400-1000% mark up? Simply because they have it and someone else needs it. If they don't want to pay they don't have to.

I have no trouble with supply and demand I do have trouble with people who take advantage of a shortage to make a huge profit at the expense of others. Just the way I was raised I guess.

If I only reloaded for hunting rifles 6000 primers would indeed last a few generations, but a competitive shooter can easily shoot that many in a year or two. That did not create the shortage; hoarding did. I have around 800 CCI-200 LR primers for my hunting guns and practice with them and saw no need to buy any LR primers. I had only 50 or so Fed 215 LR Mag primers for my 375 H&H and did go buy 200 for it; was originally going to get 100 but went wild and panic bought an extra 100. I had an opportunity to buy a brick of 1000 @ $28.50, which is a really great buy but wouldn't be able to use my arm again if I shot my 375 that much LOL! I had 150 small pistol primers for my 357 Python and saw no need to stockpile them as I don't shoot the 357 much and have a 200 -300 rounds already loaded for it anyhow. Now comes the small rifle primers. I have about 7,500 on hand and they will last me a year maybe three depending on how much shooting I do.

I did buy some brass for all of my rifle calibers and just gave it the match grade prep treatment and put it away for "down the road". I bought an extra 1,000pcs 223; 200pcs 375 H&H; 200pcs 30-06; and 40 factory 257 Roberts ammo as I could not find Winchester 257 Roberts +P cases anywhere. I like to keep my powder and primers fresh is why I don't tend to stockpile much. I do have 6 pounds of IMR 4350 because it just shot so well in my one 30-06 that I bought all of the same lot that the guy had.

I normally buy in lots of 5000 one normally gets better prices that way. Shooting 10000 rounds a year isn't that uncommon for people who shoot in compations. By brother inlaw shot 27000 registered trap targets in a year. Naw 6000 primers at one time is real on the small scale of things.

True, which is why I stocked up in 1994 for the last artificial component shortage. Right now the ammo shelves in my neck of the woods look like the locusts have been there!

You guys act like selling something for a profit is a crime.....geesh......no one is forcing anyone to bid on primers on Gunbroker.....don't like the prices, don't bid, seems simple enough to me......

BTW I'm not, nor have I ever sold primers on GB.......but if I really needed some, I'd grit my teeth and pay the $65/1000, so now a box of 20 bullets costs you an extra $.70 cents or so to load up, BFD.
