Guys, I screwed up ... pure, plain and simple. I set up a press in .308 Win without thinking about it and ran the sizing die down until it touched the shell holder in the ram. Then I proceeded to size a bunch of LC 7.62 brass. Needless to say, the sized brass is too short. I wouldn't bother if it weren't LC brass ... but ... anyone have a fireforming recipe for .308 Win? thanks, Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Been there done that. With about a 7 to 10 percent reduction in one of the slower burning powders CRIMP a 180 or 200 grain bullet out far enough so there is substantial interference with the rifling ( perhaps .015" to .020") .The idea being to hold the cartridge in place during the firing pin strike. Play with it .You'll get there and not hurt anything. Oh, LC brass is just brass. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Roger's Method is the way I normally Fire Form all my Cases, except I don't bother to Crimp. I can see where that would be a good idea though. You could also "Expand" the Case Necks with a 338 Expander and then run them back through your FL Die with it set properly. Best of luck to you. | |||
