Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge? I just sent in a 308 handi rifle for rechambering and it will be ready in june so I would like to get the foot work done before hand.
I will be shooting 165-180gr bullets and so far have split the minimum and max loads between the 308win and the 30-06 to come up with some starting loads as the new cartridge does pretty much fall between those two with capacity but, theres nothing quite like first hand knowledge or a veterans experience for wildcating.

If you do not get a lot of response, try the Single Shot Pistol forum. There are quite a few guys that have this round in a handgun....

What Flavor of 308X444 are you using? If you are using the Bellm flavor, he has data listed on his website. If you are using the JDJones flavor you can contact SSK Handcannons at their website and get data I believe. I would more likely say you would look at starting loads for 308 Winchester or even use 300 Savage data and work up from there.
I have a .308 Bellm and find that the loads top out just above the starting loads for 308 win. But that is in my barrel.

regards,
Graycg

It is concidered a 308 Bellm #2 for encores but I dont think Mike has any data worked up last time I talked to him. This would be for a 308 Handi rifle.

If you have access to Accurate Powder reloading manual #1, they have load data for the 309JDJ for the Contender, this would be a starting point for your rifle.
