I just picked up a TC G2 in .223rem, Youth model with a 16" barrel.

Can anyone suggest a powder I might try in such a short barrel?

Today I tried a few mixed hand loads, with mixed results. I didn't make the ammo up myself, so I cannot garantee the quality of the ammo.

Accuracy wasn't that bad in one load, shooting about 1.5" @ a bit ofer 100 yards.

How fast a powder will I need to get a full burn in only 16 inches?

I'd say 2400, SR 4759, or IMR 4227....

First pick would be 4227, followed by 2400...

You get a virtually full burn in just a few inches of barrel .

A better question is what is the twist rate of the rifle ,what weight bullet are you going to shoot and what are you shooting it at.

Some of the powders mentioned will work well with light bullets, for the heavier end of the spectrum, Varget,Tac,RE15 and some of the mid range VitaVouri powders might serve better.

I use IMR4198 in my 10 inch contender shooting 50 grain bullets and get average 3/4 inch groups
