I have been considering swithcing from my RCBS balance beam scale to a digital scale. After reading mbogo's post on digital scales I'm quite confused about the purchase. I have the powder measurer that comes in the RCBS kit. My plan was to weigh the charge and then add powder with a trickler untill exact weight attained. Are there measurers that can do this, or am I trying to be too precise. Opinions and recommendations appreciated.

Hi Well I use both an RCBS 10-10 and an RCBS Little Partner electronic scale. The electronic scale is very precise, easy to use and there is no waiting for a reading. However..... You must keep it calibrated and check calibration often. Temperature swings effects it tremendously. Also you can't have any drafts whatsoever around where you are weighing. It does not respond to slight additions to the pan, like you would do when trickling. After any slight addition or removal, you have to take the pan off the scale and place it back on to get an accurate reading. Even with this, it is still a little faster than waiting for the 10-10 to settle out and it's easier on my eyes. At 50+ years this a good thing. When I really appreciate the electronics scales now, is when I am weighing cases and cast bullets. I just put one on, take a reading, and take it off. It's that quick. Anyway, hope this helps.

You might look @ the Lyman scale/measure. It's an elec. scale connected to a powder measure. Expensive, but if it works like it should, it could save quite a bit of time. I use a Dillon scale & just drop charges in as you suggest w/ a measure or dipper & tricklethe last couple grains. I find it much faster than the balance beam.
