Does anyone here put their cases into the dishwasher?
I was thinking of making up some wire tray to hold them and let the water swish around.

I heard that the soap is also designed to clome away from metals very well.

Are you married? If you are she might kill you if that is the one to use also for dishes. (Hate to lose a member) I think it would clean them but a tumbler will work so much better. It will polish your brass and clean it. The dishwasher won't pull off the tarnish. It is easier for me to see defects, cracks, etc in brass that is clean and polished.

I'm no chemist but it would occur to me to be an excellent way of introducing lead styphanate (sp) and all sorts of other toxic nasties to your forks and spoons.

Too bad, too. The dishwasher would be a great way to handle the brass task!

Dear Express.. [Razz]

It is said that the most genius ideas often are the simplest...

You make that so true, with that idea. Now why didn't I think of that...
I will from now on clean/degrease my cases in the dishwasher. I will still use the tumbler to polish, though, it is easier to spot cracks, when they are polished.
To you guys who worry about your wives opinion on such an important matter as reloading and the reloaders ways.... I feel so sorry for you.
The world has allready become way too feminised. Stand up for your rights for #"!:::! sake.

You're close -

what you want to do is use your CLOTHES DRYER for a case tumbler!

Makes cleaning 10,000 cases at one time much easier!

If your wife asks you what all that strange noise is, just tell her you had a little sand in your shirt pockets! [Big Grin]

If that doesn't work, try the washing machine!

Actually, for shotgun shells, a washing machine is THE BEST way to clean the hulls. I Don't think it would work too well for brass.

I like the idea of the dishwasher for brass. If you only had a small number, you could use the silverware rack.

Niels,
Those of us whom want to continue in our marital relationship always value our wive's opinion, especially when it comes to matters relating to HER kitchen. I really enjoy her cooking and would hate to give her a reason to boycott the kitchen.

Put the brass in a mesh bag in the washing machine with the "dark and dirty" load. It works!

Hi,
Save your household appliances and your mariages!
Trys this: 2 teaspoons of washing up liquid and 2 teaspoons of Tartaric Acid in 2 litres of boiling water. Leave shell cases in for 15 minutes then rinse in clean water. After drying them in the sun you have clean, non sticky shells.

I tried throwing a little media and cases in the cat's litter box and got "mixed" results [Big Grin]

Now trying to see if I can train one to sort the brass at the same time - stay tuned for results! [Eek!]

Imagine! Washing forks and spoons in a "brasswasher"...

I admit to having washed mud and dirt encrusted range brass in a mesh bag using my clothes washing machine but I would have to draw the line at the dishwasher. The clothes washer did ok but I got better results by filling my Dillon media separator with hot soapy water so the squirrel cage is partially submersed and going to town. You get better agitation.
