After 30 years of reloading, I finally purchased a chronograph. I do a light load for the .460, a 500gr Hornady soft over 108gr of H4350. My average velocity was 2297fps over 5 rounds. Two questions..does this seem about right for those of you who shoot the .460 and second, would this be adequate for buffalo. I did a plains game hunt in September and am planning DG for May of 06. The rifle, by the way, is a custom on a Brno 602 action. See you guys in Reno. Bob

You can safely reach 2500f/s with Re 19. About 120grs if I recall correctly.

But a 458 Lott is concidered to be more than adequate for buffalo and that's right in the alley where you're at. 2300f/s

VFR,

Yeah that sounds right to me! If I had to guess I would say you have a 26" tube on that 460. Mine at a 24" tube and it took 110 gr of IMR4350 to reach ~ 2340 fps.
