Not only am I gonna rely upon him for my Rifle/Reloading info, but soon my investment, lottery numbers and any crystal ball reading that needs doing. Big Grin

I developed a load with my .300 WM with a 200 grain GK, H-4831sc. He told me that he thought the powder would not give enough velocity. Well it did and I thought the accuracy was good too. Loaded some more of the same and it shot like $hit.

So I went back to square one with the powder he suggested RL-25. Fired about 10 shells at a COL of .020" off the lands.

These were the second batch of five...

Center to center it's .8" and I'm happy. Loaded 15 more and shot steel out to 760 to check the data. Made first round hits on the 220, 330, 430 plates. Took 2 shots to hit the 560 because I didn't play enough wind. First round hit on the 650 and the 700 yard plates. Took 5 rounds to figure the wind out on the 760.

Thanks woods, you dirty rat'n frat'n root'n....!

Naw, I just get lucky a lot! Now you put a jinx on me and I'll be wrong about the next 3 things!

You just have to start your days off right

and make sure you don't get caught in a trap

But you better hurry if you're gonna get any Iraq Dinars, gonna happen soon.

OK woods!

Here's your chance to be wrong!

As you look at that group, what would you do to tighten it up even more? I've read your posts on this. I believe "conventional wisdom" states if the group is tight with a flyer, move away from the lands a touch?

Well, first off I would repeat the group and then repeat it a third time before coming to a definite conclusion. There are a lot of other variables besides seating depth that will influence the group. If you repeat and it goes to hell, then there may be some other factor you can put your finger on that is causing the separation of POI's within a group; bullet grip, barrel cleanliness (not that you didn't clean it, just shots #4 thru 9 as opposed to shots #22 thru 27 type of thing), barrel heating, atmospheric conditions, bullet bearing surfaces, etc. etc.

Essentially I have stopped taking a 1/2" group and believing that I have found the holy grail but have been looking for long term trends and consistancy. IOW I would rather have a load that always shoots inside 1" than one that sometimes will shoot inside 1/4".

The answer is, I have no answer..........so I can't be wrong! Big Grin

IOW, I agree with vapo

I think..... Confused

So shoot that group 2 more times at different times and get back to us.

Very sage advice woods and I agree completely. Do not go thumping your chest with that lucky itsy bitsy shot group until you have confirmed it, hopefully different days/times Wink Good stuff, Waidmannsheil, Dom.
