I have manuals and COTW. most have 100-105gr loads. I have 85gr JRN and LRN.

I have a bunch of 4.0 of 231. I also loaded 3.5 of Unique to start.

For the 85 grain, AmmoGuide says this:

85 grain. 3.8gr Unique. 850 fps. 136 ft-lbs

Load submitted by 'chuck32571'.
This load was developed using round-nosed, jacketed, full metal jacket, flat-based, hardball, hardball bullets.
In terms of power, the developer considers this an average load.
The velocity measurement is by chronograph.
H.R.S cases and Remington Small Pistol primers were used in development.

100 grain West Coast. 4.0. Winchester 231. 951 fps. 200 ft-lbs

Load submitted by 'boboso'.
This load was developed using West Coast Bullet, Inc. round-nosed, plated, flat-based bullets.
In terms of power, the developer considers this a light load.
Huntington Die Specialties cases and CCI Small pistol regular primers were used in development.
COMMENTS:
Starting load for Type 14 8mm Nambu. Suggested maximum from old Midway data is 4.8gr 231 @ 1050fps

The barrel length for the 85 grain is not listed
The barrel length for the 100 grain bullet is 5 inches

The COL is not listed for the 85 grain bullet.
The COL for the 100 grain bullet is 1.220

thanks for that. 3.5 gr of unique was very low, wouldn't work the action even a little.

4.3 gr 231 worked better and they needed to be seated down a bit further
