I have manuals and COTW. most have 100-105gr loads. I have 85gr JRN and LRN.

I have a bunch of 4.0 of 231. I also loaded 3.5 of Unique to start.


What say you

For the 85 grain, AmmoGuide says this:

85 grain. 3.8gr Unique. 850 fps. 136 ft-lbs

This load was developed using round-nosed, jacketed, full metal jacket, flat-based, hardball, hardball bullets.
In terms of power, the developer considers this an average load.
The velocity measurement is by chronograph.

The barrel length for the 100 grain bullet is 5 inches

The COL is not listed for the 85 grain bullet.

thanks for that. 3.5 gr of unique was very low, wouldn't work the action even a little.

4.3 gr 231 worked better and they needed to be seated down a bit further
