What do you consider the minimum neck length for a 260gr bullet 375cal bullet. I know everyone says 1 caliber. A 300 wmag is about .27" necked up to 375 the neck would be a touch longer. I know just opinions and that is fine. Would a neck of say .32 be enough for the 260grs? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

All it has to do is hold the bullet in feeding. If you load them single shot, then .050 inch is enough. I have a 257 roberts Ruger that has such a long throat that I only seat the bullets, literally, .1 inch. And use 25--06 load data. It works fine. So is .32 enough? Probably overkill.

Ditto!!! Only "problem" I've run into is boat tail bullets and the tapered section, otherwise I seat just off lands on first round and mag length for all others if needed...depending on what the recoil does to the OAL. One of my long throated wildcat cartridges is ~0.105" seat, sized with a bushing to giver a TIGHT grip PLUS the neck has been trimmed ~0.050 shorter than OEM case dimensions. Good Hunting

I believe the 375 Ruger neck is only .305" long, and I've never heard anyone say it wasn't sufficient.

Those measurements must be from a manuals drawing... MY 375 Ruger measures 0.275" neck length or if I measure from where the neck junction goes from 0.406" at case mouth to ~0.408", just above neck/shoulder junction it's 0.260-0.262" long..fired case length is 2.56". LOTSA ideas and conjecture and "proofs" on long necks vs short necks, which is more accurate and which is better for throat life. Definitely NO consensus on those subjects. Good Hunting
