Mine would not .
The press trys to index before the bullet is out of the seating die.
Had to turn the die out to remove the case .
But I was loading a long cast bullet .
Never tryed a "short" bullet .

Sorry

And I agree , Dillon will spend all the time needed to talk you thru any problems .

It is my understanding that the square deal press is a dedicated single calibre press that is not easily converted. In fact, it's about the only Dillon product I don't like. My reloading buddy had two, one in 9m/m, the other in .45ACP; both worked admirably, however I think the 550 is a much better investment.

Not really, the SDB is easy to change tool heads on, it is just limited to pistol calibers, and as with other progressives, changing from large primers to small (or vice-versa) is a pain. I routinely load .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .44 Spl, and .41 Mag. on my SDB.

For the pistol ctgs. I prefer the SDB to my 550b.
