MickinColoSportsman’s Files Chapter 11?
I just got a call from a friend who is in the Fishing/Hunting equipment business and he said that Sportsman’s Warehouse filed for chapter 11. I don’t think it comes as a big surprise to anyone, considering all the closing and selling of stores around the country of late.
Anyone else heard this yet?

vapodogwithout mentioning any names, I'm betting there will be a couple more big retailers following suit in the near future....

They screwed me once too often. I won't miss them.

Sorry to see those people loose their jobs though.

Chop901The news report stated that they intend to operate 29 stores under chapter 11. So, hopefully there'll be no more store sales or closings.
They have always carried a better reloading section than the local Crudella's. I hope SW pulls through, I would miss them.

MickinColoI guess we’ll see if they make it. It’s hard to keep your doors open when a large number of your vendors have you on credit hold or switched you to a COD account.
Like Vapodog, I don’t know how Gander Mountain manages to stay open in Denver and Bass Pro’s overhead in that “indoor roman coliseum” has got to be killing them.
Out of all of them, Cabela’s seems to be the most financially stable.

R. WalterAs the previous poster stated it's hard to emerge from 11 especially as a retailer. I predict an outright sale or, more likely, Ch 7

BaxterBStu grew that company way to fast. Keep in mind me initially was brought on to sell the whole thing, saw a market, grew it and now here we are. I think in the goo dmarkets they will still be around like Meridan Idaho and a few others. In fact it may be a good thing for the remaining stores because they wont have to spread stock so thin

homebrewerI heard a snipet of a report on Reno radio yesterday. I think the store here is staying open. We have a monster Scheel's that opened in September and a Cabela's out at Exit 4 in Verdi. That store is at least ten miles out of town; it makes me wonder why they built it so far out. The Scheel's is nicely-located at Exit 20. The Sportsman's Whorehouse is way down Kietzke Lane; kind of hard to reach (all them stoplights), but not far from the Convention Center where we have gunshows. The Hilton (now the Grand Sierra Resort) is close to I-80, which makes it easy for all the Kalifonians to come over Donner and buy magazines, et cetera without all the bullsqueezius associated with buying the same stuff there...
