Completely understandable. Science goes out the window when you mix in politics, money, and people. Local businesses want more hunters, longer seasons etc. so they talk to the local politician, who controls the wild life departments budget, etc... Hunters want cheaper licensees and more game... and on it goes. They are doing another 'predator' study here in Colo. to see if 'control' will increase deer numbers in some units. The truth is that they are probably being over hunted, but that doesn't play well. Being a biologist for a fish and game department must be a very frustrating job.
