Back in the woods there's a lot of little bogs where wet weather springs empty into. Three or four weeks back the frogs were hollering nonstop from one pond and there were great gobs of frog eggs all over. Then little tiny tadpoles. Now middle size tadpoles. The little skim of water over the mud is thick with them. But we haven't had rain in awhile and the water is almost dried up.

Deciding to transplant them, i tried to scoop some out with a net, but came up with mostly mud. Then i dug out a little depression in the mud and was able to get a whole coffee pretty darn thick with tadpoles. Took them to the creek and turned them loose.

Well, hey, this is WV. Gotta make do....no whales here to save.
