Believe it or not, I had an English Redick who was deadly on Squirrels, only problem was he hunted wide, so I would walk 1 mile to get 5-6 squirrels per outing, but he loved them. most fun i ever had. Look into Full Cry magazine, plenty of feists and rat terriers who will do the job if you like small dogs), if you like big dogs use the various Cur breeds. There is even a nice book on hunting and training squirrel dogs as well as videos.

FWIW, mine's a weenie dog - miniature Dashund. He absolutely loves to tree squirrels. He's only a year old now, so he pretty much has to catch them on the ground, at first. But he's making strides on the trailing-to-tree thing. Can't wait til September.

It's the little things that matter.

I havn't in many years. I used to hunt squirrels with Mountain Fiest dogs. They are great hunters, and wonderful pets. I would very much like to find another.

Used to do it a lot when I was younger. Was great fun when there where three or four people together. One of the best dogs I ever hunted with was a treeing walker.

My old buddy was an American Water Spaniel, he was great. Now I have an American Fox Hound, I'll see what she can do this spring. jp
