I was at an auction Sat looking for goodies to recycle and got the bargin of the day. As I lolled around looking for trouble, I got to talking to another redneck hunter type. After a bit a new Pellet Rifle come up for bid and I scored it for $45, but that was not the "bargin of the day". Nope. The true bargin came in the form of old timey information.. This redneck(a most likeable fellow) asked why I wanted this pellet rifle. I explained about our Crow problem around here and the fact that this area is supposed to be closed to the discharge of firearms. In fact just as I was leaving for the auction there were about 30 or 40 crows harrassing an Owl, and I kinda like Owls. Them Crows had been conditioned to run for cover when they hear a shot but the damned things just ignored my noisemaking and kept after this poor unassuming Owl. I figured this pellet rifle would help to reeducate those black buzzards! Well now, this is when the "bargin of the day" came along. He tells me of an old Saskatchewan farmer that he met in his misspent youth that told him about the great crowbaiting caper. The advise was, Take a garbage can lid and more or less fill it with rolled oats then add a liberal amount of rubbing alcohol. Once the alcohol has soaked into the oats, place the loaded lid in an open area where the crows can see it. Ignore the bait pile for at least an hour and then go back to take care of business. Seems like these crows will feed on the oats and very quickly get to imitating my mothers relatives, drunks all! No need to even shoot the crows, just practice the golf swing or in the case of Cratwackers Unanimous, use a grasswhip! Shit, He could have told me that before I bought the pellet rifle but I rather suspect that he may have been the seller. Still a nice guy though and I have attempted to point him in this direction! derf Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati | ||

I'm not a golfer either. However, I am a small holder and have a variety of gas powered cutting tools. Put the the brush blade on the weed whacker and it becomes the crow whacker. ****************** "Policies making areas "gun free" provide a sense of safety to those who engage in magical thinking..." Digital Dan, Were you going to mow them down where they stagger? I'm thinking that with all the cheap Mexican labor you could have them buried up to thier shoulders. Some in a straight line and others in more challanging patterns. ****************** "Policies making areas "gun free" provide a sense of safety to those who engage in magical thinking..."
