I am having some trouble locating a top Coyote Outfitter, where I can go and see a lot of action. Someone who specilizes in Coyote Hunting is preferable.

I am flexible on whether they be in US, or Canada, and for price as well.

I would like to get 2-3 names I can run down. I even contacted Les Johnson to see if he took guys out on his down time and he was not available and could not make any recomendations.

Thanks. popcorn

What exactly are you looking for? how many days and when?
How do you like to hunt? are you more of a sniper and want the high stand, or do you mind it down and dirty in the brush with shotguns?
We have it all in Arizona, called in six last sunday for a friend.

Bucko:

I would prefer to be up high and watch them coming in from a long way off and then shoot them at 2 or 3 hundred yards with a .22-250 with a Loopy V3 8-25X.

I would go whenever the best time to se the most action is and depending on the distance to travel, 3-5 days. The longer the trip to get there, the longer the hunt.

Let me know if you come up with any ideas. I like big ones like I have seen while hunting deer in Saskatchewan.

Thanks.

CZ, here is where my take on that is.
First of all if you want big coyotes it limits your areas to the northern states or Canada.
Most everything you will see in NM,AZ NV,TX,UT or CA is going to be small compared to those guys.
A big coyote in most all of the areas in these states is going to be 35 pounds.
Also if you really want to take those kinds of shots you need to be where you can see a long ways , so wyoming comes to mind.
Down here you never have any clue what you might get.
I can be a lone guy standing off several hundred yards scoping things out, but then again they are hard to see in brushy country without binoculars.
And while a guy is scanning with binos one is probably going to run up your backside and you will be lucky if you don't shoot your foot off..

I would guess that in a typical day of calling for me if I take 3 or 4 coyotes I am going to shoot maybe one standing on a ridge,or in the open somewhere at a few hundred yards, one or two with a shotgun trying to run up the barrel,, and one or two that I either barked to a stop at 50 to 75 yards or else had to takea running shot on.
It is great fun and exciting stuff, but it is a really different game down here.
Light and easy handling rifles, NO bipods,, shooting stick, or sticks instead.
Lower power scopes, closer shots that don't wait around too long for a guy to get set, so being able to get your rifle up , on target and a shot off in a matter of seconds is vital.
Oh, and yes there is always the shotgun, lots of brush that not many folks like to , or know how to hunt.
A foxpro, a decoy and a shotgun over your knee with the stock already into your shoulder is the name of that game.
Think pass shooting dove with teeth..

I agree, the 35 pd. ones are what I am looking for. Does anyone know an outfitter in Canada or a northern state who specializes in that?

There is no need for a guide. If your looking for big dogs head to the high line in MT or North Dakota in January or February. The high line holds lots of coyotes and the pelts that come from there are top quality. All you need is a few calls a rifle and WARM cloths. No license and no limit and no problem getting a place to go most ranchers welcome coyote hunters
