Got a cat that comes in the shop at night and shits on the floor.(big repair shop, tin building)Backs up to Hong Kong Restaurant. Set a live trap before I went home tonite. Baited it with KFC bones.Tomorrow morning should be fun. Wink I figure a stint on the wash rack and a little air hose treatment will be in order. Should be ready for CatManDo at Hong Kong Rest.
At least it will be clean and blow dried! Can't shoot it because the shop is one bolck from the Court House and Police Station. 22 CB cap? Short? It could happen! Big Grin

It's easy mate.

As you have a repair shop all bits should be to hand.

5 gallon can
4 gallons water
1 crat trap
1 crat (in trap above)

lnsert last 3 componants into can and wait 5 minutes, end of crat problem. No more puss, no more fuss.

Only problem, cat trap is 3 feet long. Might take a 55 gal. barrel to get the job done. Got a few of those around too.
Might take the Ruger Single Six along for the job. Should be a "very" interesting day! But, cat might not show up so "patience is a virtue"!!

Take a grain sack, like 100# corn comes in. Put a rock in the sack first. Spread the opening of the sack securely around the opening of the cage trap. Open the door and the cat will run into the sack, but you have to be quick. After it runs in, step on the sack behind it so it can't run back out. Then quickly twist the sack-- twist it real hard and tight toward the cat till there is no slack, then wire it shut. You now have a small bundle that can't move much and should fit in a 5 gal bucket and sink. (The rock would be if you're using creek, prob wouldn't need the rock in a 5 gal bucket, the bulk of the animal would take up any air space when you put the lid down.) Hope this helps.

Sorry guys! The cat never showed up last night. The trap is still set and waiting. Maybe tomorrow morning I'll get some action. Lots of foot/paw prints on the cars that are stored in the shop. The weekends seem to see the most action but mid week I've had to clean up cat turds so anything can happen. The Ruger is locked in my tool box, loaded and ready. Smiler Will have to play it be ear! Hope for the best!! Wink

If you stuck the Ruger up the Cats arse do you think the crat would work as a silencer?

Welding gloves and a vise work'd for us, stuck the nozzle about 2" up his ass and fill'er up. Let the cat go and it ran very fast out the shop door, stop'd on the other side of the street and walk'd away VERY funny, he didnt make it the house he was head'd for. set down and that was it.

Frowner Sorry folks. No cat today. But hope springs eternal! Tomorrow is another day! Smiler I think I might add a little "tuna" to the bait tray! thumb That ought to get his/her attention. Hope it doesn't attract too many. But then again, the fun will increase 10 fold! Nothing like a little more action! Big Grin

Ahem the "55 gallon solution" along with the Havaharts is my general solution to things around here - any gunfire and I'd have a swat team swarming the neighborhood...

That said, there's much to be said for Conibear 220's.. thumb

Just remember that NO cat or no evidence of a cat messing around is a good thing too. It may well be that one of the more stealthy among us may have quietly solved the problem unbeknownst to you. The 3rd shift guys at the precinct may have accidentally flattened one or two on patrol, one may have eaten a poisoned RAT from the courthouse and thereby poisoned itself, or Quai Quik Chop at the Hong Kong Rest. across the back alley may have just made his famous Ginger Cat with sriced vegetable for a nice traditional family dinner after the restaurant closed one night. And for those near SF, someone may have "tupentined" your marauding cat without using the traditional corn cob. Now I have experienced a shortage of cats from time to time, especially bad like, like, when I really wanted a few for taco flavored jerky, or a couple for Mew Gew Gai Pan with company coming. But never fear! There are so damn many cats around looking for trouble, they will be baaack!

Still no cat! Confused I figure maybe this weekend when the shop is closed up and quiet for a few days. Ahh, but Monday morning is something to look forward to. Didn't see any "Specials" listed on the menu at the Hong Kong Resturant. A few months back we did see a momma cat packing a dead rat, almost the size of her, go by the front door of the shop. The rat was so big that she had a hard time walking and keeping it off the groung between her front legs. A real hunter! Maybe she is too busy hunting to make the rounds in the shop. Patience and perseverance shall prevail! Wink

It's funny that HTRN mentioned the 220 Conibear cause thats what I have used in the past ..only the 110 size. The second day baited with sardines in spring water brought in my unwanted guest ! Good luck with what ever means you use !

If the cat won't come to the trap you may have to take the trap to the cat. Have you considered importing a self-propelled cat trap?

Whoops, please pardon me. Kaliforniah has a homegrown version of a self-propelled cat trap.

When I opened the shop this morning, guess what I found? You got it! The cat was in the trap. Swung by Saturday afternoon but no cat at that time. Must have come in sometime Sunday.Everybody in the shop made sure to check it out. WILD is a mild term. Got 10 feet from the cage and the cat went crazy! After we all kicked the cage a few times, it looked like it needed a shower so off to the wash rack. Needless to say, we don't think it will be back for a while. Wink Too many people around to do anything different. Saw sparks coming off it's feet when we turned it loose. Sure put on a good show. And just in case, the trap will be reset. All in all a good day! Big Grin

Remember I said Too many people hanging around? Those folks are not "like minded". One lawyer, one police officer and a couple of "tree huggers".They go and tell their friends what was going on and I would need the lawyer to bail me out! Getting rid of a cat "my way" would sure as hell caused a shit storm. Better to wait till the smoke cleared to do the "right thing".(fall back and regroupe) The anticipation of the "next hunt" makes the wait well worth while. Wink

Or ... you volunteer in front of your friends to take the cat out into the open country somewhere and turn it loose so it can live a happy life chasing butterflies and smelling daffodils or whatever else the tree-huggers get all mushy over, and they love, admire, and appreciate you as the kind, caring humanitarian.

Then you take fluffy down to SF Bay and go trolling for great whites or something.

Ya shoulda told them you were taking it to the pound. Things get lost in transit sometimes. Worst case, you could have actually taken it to the pound. Let the Humane Society spend their money to put it to sleep.

I don't care what lure you use, I douby you will ever catch that cat again, even it he does come back.

Just adding tuna is alright but I would suggest a can of wet crat food. It is cheaper than tuna and it doesn't stink if you don't get one on the first day. Tuna will stink your shop up. Sardines are even worse.

THE CAT IS BACK! Mad Cat shit on the floor when I opened the shop this morning. Should have killed the furry bastard when I had the chance. One of the guys needed the trap at home to get a cat that was messing with his dogs.(Pit Bulls, guarding his dope garden) If they were mine, I'de just turn them loose but he lives in town and doesn't need problems with the neighbors. The cat came in over the weekend so I have a few days to make plans till it comes back. This time, will be the last time it comes in the shop. Tree huggers or not, the cat is dead meat!! gunsmile
Antifreeze should do "real" good! Not like we don't have any. Wink Lots of ideas so we will come up with a good plan!

Been thinking of useing a littlt electricity. Got a couple of beer signs that have a control box that will put out a 2" arc. Now "that" would be fun to see. Smiler Might even try to wire the trap so when the cat goes in it makes a circut and gets the fur shocked out of it. Everything is in the planing stage but the wheels are turning. Wink
