After reading some of the last few posts, My wife no longer thinks I am the worst of the "SOB cat haters!" I BOW before the 45-70 prone shooters, but only because my gut hurts from laughing so damb hard. I thought my old 30-06 was hell on the collar bone.
In the past, I have been accused of taking small game hunting to the extreme.

But all I carry is a Savage 10FP in .308, and the trusty Ruger P89 9mm, and a large Bowie knife at 15". (no room in pic for the last 2 items.)
All of this of corse is only for the occasinal weekend outing for the infomus pasture panther. When it comes time for the Annual Krat Kamp, I have to load up the rest of the ammo. Gotta keep the world safe from the bad guys dont ya know. Jeff
Dam hunt101 went down right after posting, where else is there to post pics?

Musket, that is a fine rig you got there, and I'm that you have plenty of ammo. And that we could take the heat off'n your back. Anytime you're in the doghouse just give the little lady my email and I'll be glad to chat with her. You gotta know she'll think you're a regular PETA kind of guy after...

Welcome aboard BTW, sorry about the busted gut. Wink

If this works, it should be the new Kritter Krusher. It is a M98 Mauser chambered in 458 Win mag. No big name stuff. The gun was actually traded for in parts. I had to put it together, adjust the rails for feeding because it wouldn't, smooth up the safety, draw file the damn thing because of the pitting, and blued it. During the Hurricane Ivan evac I must have grabbed it with a sweaty hand because after four days in the car there was a nice rusty paw print on the bbl so I sanded it out and threw on the krylon camo bbl job just to get it back in the field. It will be properly tended to in the off season.

They dont have to be pretty, or a big name. Just accurate! Mauser actions are what most other "boltguns" are designed after anyhow. When looking for a rifle, I went with the savage because I couldn't find an affordable K-98 Mauser original to use as my platform. Excelant rifle Carnivore. Jeff

Well... this is the missus. You wanted me to talk to DD? I don't know about convincing me, it's not my new toy. All I've got is the Savage 111 in .270win. (which is MY new toy)Cool Should be good for killing dogs... I mean Yotes. Big Grin Anyway if you are interested in Musket's Savage you'll have to take it up with him. Last I knew he was asking about $900, but it was for more than just the rifle Smiler

Musket, as far as I am concerned, I think my ugly guns shoot a whole lot better than my fancy looking rigs. I have a bad habit of breaking them in before I get 100% complete and just going with it. My wife recently made the new gun building rule...... I have to finish one before I start one. That put me about four deep. Eeker I really wanted to start acquiring parts for a 338 winnie for gophers!!!! Smiler

Mrs M, glad to meet ya! Cool Next time you ponder giving the MASTER a load of grief think of this:

I have more guns in my closet than can be found in the state of Montana. I had to cut back the wife's allowance last month due to inflation and the fixed income thing. That's life in the tailer park lady! boohoo

I don't want his Savage, even though it's a nice piece. I want 2 Purdys and an H&H(here comes another allowance cut) and a Boss SxS 16. His tools are necessary to defend liberty and for the pursuit of crats, he needs to hang on to them. You have any good crat recipies? Confused

My wife gave me a new set of dies for my .585 Kraken und Dersplatten Loundenboomer for Christmas, plus 40 pounds of powder, what did you do for your man?

Hello DD,
Sounds like you have a larger closet than we Smiler
It's ok that you do not want his Savage, he realy enjoys it. No, I don't happen to have any crat recipies, but if I caome accross any I'll be sure to think of you.
For Christmas I got him a new 5 D-cell crat shiner, and gave him the go-ahead on a new laminated thumbhole stock and a new scope. troll
He makes it rather hard to get him things when by the time I know he wants something he has already purchased that something gunsmile Also I try to let him pick what he wants as I am usualy not entirely sure as to what he is needing (or wanting to try) at any given time.

So, that's how that pans out.
