Ok guys I have had much enterainment from your stories and I wish I had the gift for writing a tale that some here have! However here is a brief tale from yours truly -
Years ago I used to head off for a weeknd away at least once a month to maintain sanity from living in a large city. I was lucky enough to have a property of 40k acres 3 hours drive away with a great number of rabbits amongst great scenary.
We would stay at the shearers quarters which did away with having to camp and kept any females who came along every now abd then quite happy. You know - hot showers; refridgerators and a degree of privacy!
One time close to Xmas a particular weekend included my female partner and a good friend along with his family [including the young daughter who did not really approve of our tendency to "put blood on the ground"].
We had a perticularly social time on the Saturday night at the owners house and then headed off to the quarters about a mile away.
Now anyone who has stayed with me so far will appreciate that I have set the scene foe the main story.
We had been having trouble with a field lion which had been entering our kitchen through a hole in the screen door and going through our garbage generally making an unholy mess!
It had been sighted briefly early one morning exiting the area thus the culprit was certain.
My dog then was a great mate who happened to dislike field lions as well. He was a 132# rottweiller I called "Magnum" -this was before Magnum PI too before anyone cares to comment on his illustrious name.
Down to business - I entered the kitchen of the quarters this evening to spy said field lion heading under the stove after once again spreading our trash all over the floor.
I politely asked Magnum to keep an eye on the stove while I retrieved a .22 Diamonback which I was especially fond of due to its accuracy and smooth action.
Upon my return I "sic em" which saw said field lion reposition to beneath the refrigerator [an old kero burner with plenty of room underneath].
With renewed vigour from the hunting pack[me and Magnum] ol puss headed off once agin for fairer pastures via the dining room this time.
Well I have never before or since seen a field lion climb a corrugated iron wall but I guess ol Magnum was a fair incentive!
At an altitude of about 3' I planted a HVHP into the back of the shoulders. he still managed to gain about 2 extra feet before sliding down followed by an untidy retreat due to claret spraying everywhere and my Rottie now giving him the kiss of .....???
About now I realise that our fellow campers are ETA 30 seconds!! Hmmmmmmmm???little girls; mums = excited maybe a bit of screaming???
Somehow I managed to get rid of the felon [flung out the back door and SSS next morning early] and spray water everywhere to wash down the evidence on the wall. Next day managed to duct tape over the .22 hole in the dining room wall before anyone noticed that and all was well with the world.

Good teamwork APB, and welcome aboard! Not familiar with the Diamondback in gun form, this an Aussie creation? Your story kinda reminds me of an old Christmas carrole... "Under the stove and thru the door, into the shearing house we go...", kinda like that.

Share some more of your adventures. I would have put a screw in the hole in the sheet metal. It just seems like an appropriate way to commemorate the event.

RELOAD - ITS FUN!
