I went over to the pizza palace for lunch yesterday, and parked in the far corner of the lot next to a small extension of the shopping strip being built. A couple of speculation stores are under construction and what with cheap imported labor being used there is more than the usual amount of construction debris, untidyness, and lunch garbage around. I don't think the amigos from Chiapas were trained very well during their apprenticeships in the deep south. I have seen a cat or two around before but this time there were about twenty or so having their way with a discarded bag of burritos or some such thing. Several of them looked just like those old pictures of Birman we used to see here. Since there is a pretty busy 4-lane entrance road immediately adjacent and a super mart garden shop just beyond I thought to heave a chunk of concrete into the middle of the pack so maybe one or two would make a dash for the otherside, where the burritos are always better. I did have an extra "free cat" sign in my truck just in case. Might get lucky, you know. I always wanted to do that sign thing. Well, I did and they scattered, except for the one underneath the lump of concrete. Two headed for the mart and one made it while its running mate only got to the third traffic lane before the kiddee's soft ice cream truck got it. Now was my chance to use the sign. As I got ready to pull out, the one that made it across the border into the mart garden center, ducked under the front of a forklift, that dipshit over there had just parked with a pallet of patio blocks loaded. But he left the pallet 2 feet up in the air. I guess he was trained in Chiapas too. So I drove over there and parked. I put the sign out and circled back by the forklift. As I passed I reached out to hit the lever and drop the forks. The pallet dropped with a thud except for the squeak on one corner where a tail was hanging out. After such a satisfying trip to the pizza palace I went on home. Safety first. N.S. "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

Good job, N. S. That lift operator should know better than to leave without lowering the load. The soft landing saved the patio blocks from chipping. My Strength Is That I Can Laugh At Myself, My Weakness Is That I have No Choice.

Such style. Such panache. First confirmed kill with a pallet of bricks/blocks/masonry that I am aware of. Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
