I have begun development on a new line of cat decoys after reading quite a bit about decoys on 8 or 9 varmint forums including here on AR. Especially after I stepped out on the back porch for a little relieve from one of my hunting buddies stories when we were sitting in the parlour eating my famous "cat callin' chilli" and drinking some few of the long necked Millers that I have(had) in a big ice-cooled tub in the hallway. That is because I was wearing my new Rocky boots with the 1/2" deep mud-griper cleats I got for christmas. Our discussion was so business-like, I did not hear a b/w kitty yowing at the door, and I sort of stumbled in the new boots getting to the porch railing for fresh air and SQUASHED the durn thing, pretty much, as I went out the door.I packed it in a box to stand like a ranch cougar and put it in the shed freezer to dehydrate for use as a decoy. Anybody got a medium and/or large sized pussy nicely mounted I could borrow for a while? To copy in reclcled plastic?

Coming soon via UPS. A feral has moved in to a vacant house across the creek, a dark tortoise shell, about 10 pounds. Neighbor said "are you going to shoot it?" I dissembled somewhat, saying "I'll trap it"...but I never said I wouldn't shoot it later. I'm curious about what the .405 will do, or Special...or point blank with Ravage or Bob...or...or...or...or...think I'll go buy a dedicated crat blaster, it's too dirty a job for my other guns. A Vierling....22 Short/.22-250/7x64/16 guage...yep, that oughta do it. Wink

A friend of mine was involved in breeding peregrine falcons to release (very greenie, I know). They did this at a remote farm, all very hush hush, also breeding rats to feed the falcons. There were a lot of cats around that farm but they did not mind it - I guess some of the rats escaped from time to time or something. However, a cat died so one on they guys skinned it and stuffed it. Not an expert job, more a sort of test to see how difficult it was to stuff an animal (or perhaps it was a bet). Then they placed the stuffed cat on top of a pile of logs, looking rather weird and very rigid. In the morning, there was a circle of cats around that pile, staring at the stuffed cat with expressions of deepest fascination and horror (if such an expression can be imagined in a cat).

That ought to be food for thought if you are interested in cat decoys!

Since the Birman is dead, maybe they thought this was some type of Altar.
This could catch on as some not-so-weird 'Sacrifice To The Cratgod' following.
Count me in.

Mart, that story reminds me of the Hollyweird movie that was never released...."King Krat"...lot like the WWII POW epic. Would have been a winner in some parts of the country, mebbe not so much elsewhere.

I read in the paper today that the daughter of Martha Smith, Alexissss....she's campaigning for the end of horse drawn carriages in NYC on behalf of PETA in the aftermath of an accident there...some people should just not be allowed to procreate. Roll Eyes Some people should still be in jail too, but that is another subject. Back to the subject though...It is my considered opinion that freeze drying is the best way to go for impromptu 'stuffin'. It's easy if a little slow, sometimes the missus will get agitated if the ice cream winds up next to the crat in the freezer...but you get to pose the little bastids howsomever you like. Wink If you are thoughtful in pose selection it can have a powerful effect on Toms...excellent decoy potential and all that. thumb
