I think I figured it out!
Put cat in small sack that is relatively open at the front. Have a streamer on the back of the sack. When the pooty/sack unit clears the barrel the drag on the sack pulls it off the pooty. That way pooty will be relatively unencumbered when it lands in and amongst the German Shorthair Pointer reception team in the middle of the field. My girls like a frisky pooty tat.
