Dear TAbby I have a family problem. A cousin of mine, with lots of deer hunting opportunities on his farm, has a seriously degenerative disease. I have the cure, but don't know how to encourage him to take it. You see, TAbby, he has over 20 CATS running around his farm, and won't thin the herd. He loves rabbit hunting, and bemoans the fact that he has no rabbits on his property. How can I convince him to thin the herd of coughing, crapping, sorry-ass felines that eat all his rabbits (and everyone else's). I have offered to do the deed myself, to ease the burden, but he claims the felines eat mice in the barn. He would take offense if I did it on my own, and ban me from deer hunting on his place. So, what's a poor feller to do? Signed, Catwhacker

CB,is that the seed you can buy from over in Denmark? You know, the kind of plant that they roll them there 'Left-Hand Mexican Marlboros' out of? Ratwhacker, welcome to the show. Go ahead and blast, maim, slaughter, kill, poison, burn ect. all the crats. And when yer friend starts snotting and cryin', present him with a large wad of baby King snakes. The snakes are alot better 'mousers' than any type crat. They get rather large, but I never saw one eat a rabbit. P.S. them Kings love eggs and chics.Good Luck keepin' them outta the Hen House. My Strength Is That I Can Laugh At Myself, My Weakness Is That I have No Choice.

Or better yet...there is a reason they are called RAT snakes! King snakes get pretty aggressive and big...rat snakes stay fairly docile (hence their common use as pets) and small enough to be little danger to chickens. King snakes would take a crat though...nice fringe benefit! Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

NO chickens on his place, it's a dairy farm, and the assholes from town seem to think a dairy farm is a lovely place to dump cats. I desperately want to work the place over with my .17HMR or .204s, but I have to be careful about it, I am running out of ground to hunt on these days. Uncle would be happy for me to thin 'em out, but Cuz says they get lots of mice and rats. Kinda funny, I get up there once or twice a year, and the damned cats are always across the road in the fields, not out at the barn. I think it would be a rimfire kind of job, too much noise makes the Holsteins nervous.

The solution is simple.. 1)tell cousin you spotted a "mother big" coyote. 2)start picking off crats one by one. 3)Say, "I betcha it's that damn coyote" Problem solved. HTRN
