It has been snowing around here and the sage rats have not been out. I've only seen a couple of coyotes and they are getting call-shy. I thought it was going to be a dull weekend until a friend called and told me he had bought a rental place on ten acres out of town. He was fuming at the previous tentants because they had taken in every homeless cat in the area. He finally got all the cats out of the house when he took possession a few days ago. Now he wants to know if I would do him a favor and come rid the place of the outside cats. His wife doesn't know anything about the cats yet and he doesn't dare do it because she might want to come along to see the place. He even gave me the keys to a small backhoe that he has on the place to dig a new septic tank hole. This may be the ultimate S.S.S. I will report my experience later. Now I must gather up my gear. I think it is time for the new AR to get another workout. It worked fine around a guy's barns awhile ago. Shades of NAM! I will be thinking of you guys while I am out there. Let's see, feral cats and with the full consent of the land owner. Not even the Kentucky guy could gripe about this. RELOAD - ITS FUN!

OEH, for a good time try a red dot on the AR. One of the fastest rifle sights around, and especially useful in twilight. Or no light. Well, damn little light. Dan Pres., TYHC www.MillettOr.Leupold If yuro'e corseseyd and dsyelixc can you siltl raed oaky?

Consider asking your waste water plumber to add a clean-out tap to the house outflow line that is big enough to stuff a cat into. The tank enzymes and bugs will soon dissolve everything. "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

Drove out to the guys place to start the cat removal. Pulled into the long driveway and this stupid cat comes running out along the driveway. No collar. No problem. S&W model 10 with hollow base wad cutters loaded backwards made a nice pop when it hit the stupid cat in the chest. First one down. Parked back from the house about 100 feet to keep the shooting alleys clear. Stuck a couple 40 round AR15 mags in my back pockets and put another into the AR15. Eased around to the back and took out two on the back porch. Three more ran towards the empty old shed and didn't make it to the doorway. Meanwhile one was hurrying across the backyard and tried to climb the fence. He only got halfway up. So far the red dot sight is working well. Looked to the left to the other side of the yard and one was taking his last look before he went over the fence. The Leupold 4x showed him clearly as he took one in the head. Continued around the house and found two hunkered down under bushes in the side yard. They thought they were hidden. Wish I had a 3 round burst on the AR15, but a couple quick squeezes and they didn't move. Spied one up in an apple tree and he thumped pretty good when he hit the ground for the last time. Stepped around the corner and got one trying to be invisible on the driveway. Found two hiding under my truck and chucked gravel at them until they came out and made their last run into the back yard through the narrow gate. Walked to the back fence and peer over it. There were several in the sagebrush which made for a moment of fast shooting. Went back to the truck for a cold soda. Changed magazines just to be cautious. Got the ladder out of the truck and climbed up on the roof. Layed in wait with the bipod just over the peak of the roof and scanned the sagebrush and back yard for strays. Got a few more that were dumb enough to come back towards the house. Started snowing again so I got off the roof before it got slippery and headed back to the truck. Someone pulled into the driveway cautiously and I waved him in as I put the AR15 back in my truck. The visitor loosened up after I told him what I was doing and that I had the owners permission. I though he was going to be yelling at me for shooting cats. He asked what I was shooting and I told him. Then he asked if I could stop at his place when I was done. He said he would go into town and get me some ammo if I would clear some cats off his place. He didn't own a gun and had been unsuccessful in getting rid of the overflow cats from this place. I only got a few over there but I was invited to come back anytime I wanted. Nice weekend, how was yours? RELOAD - ITS FUN!

My weekend has been fairly quiet so far (I always wear my earplugs at the range) it was fairly windy here but warm not perfect shooting conditions but I went to the range anyway shot some groups with my 700 varmint gun sighted in my mini 14 (dont laugh it is illegal to hunt or shoot anywhere but an aproved shooting range with an AR- in Canuckistan) for the new batch of ammo and fired off 50 rounds with the 357 mod 94. Getting in shape CAS. No live targets yet though thanks for asking. HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

Goats would be good, at least they are edible. I went back the next day early and put out cans of cat food about 30 feet from the house and where I could see them from my roof perch. Used a Winchester Model 61 pump and CB caps to get the stragglers. Got multiple hits on one can. I guess the cats thought their buddies were asleep. A CB cap in the top of the head is very effective. I was surprised that the cats never looked up and never saw me on the roof. Someday someone will clean out the gutters on that house and wonder where the empty .22 shells came from. I am nearly green with envy. Every few weeks I have this recurring fantasy, wherin someone asks me to come over and reduce tbe cat population. It has never happened. And you get 2 offers in one day. And it's not even Christmas. You must have been a very good boy. I bet both guys will need a few follow-up visits to mop up the ones that were on vacation. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* When I mention a cartridge, the rifles involved: 22LR Cooey SingleShot | 22 Hornet 40sCZ | 223Rem CZ 527 Varmint 30-06 Husqvarna Sporter | 300 WinMag A-BoltII S/S BOSS | 458 WinMag Ruger #1

Just think of it answering your business phone "CRAT CONTROL is this an emergency" HAVE FAITH IN GOD.
