Gentlemen, for the last two weeks I have been in a heated sniping battle with BULLFROGS! As of today I have killed 19 confirmed with about 10 suspected kills. I have a small pond in the front yard that is less than half an acre in size. It is rectangular in shape with a covered pier on one end. I believe these Bullfrogs are eating the newly hatched fish about as fast as they can hatch! They congregate on the dirt bank that slopes into the water under the pier. As I clean them out, a couple of days is all it takes for 5 or 6 more to show up. This has become a great diversion every couple of days. Some of these beast are over a foot long stretched out. I seem to have really dented the Nutria Rat and Muskrat population around here and cats are almost extinct Wink or at least have wised up.

The rifle: CZ 452-2E ZKM Classic with a Nikon Buckmaster scope.

Shooting position: Prone

Ammo: CCI .22LR Green Tag Competition

I use a RWS .22 Pellet Rifle on the turtles but this is more rewarding. Maybe next week I'll bust one with my .22 K-Hornet loaded with 35gr. V-Max bullets. thumb I'll post a pic of the destruction!!

I don't know what your pond is like, but anyone who uses the prone position around my pond will be covered with ticks and chiggers!! I mowed yesterday and was just about ready to call in a napalm strike. The 5' mower does a good job on the small frogs too!!! I'm attacking the blood suckers with 50% Malathion.

Actually, I have been using a Rem mod 12 with CB shorts for frogs. I don't have a big problem becasue I have good black snake population. They also keep the mice down in my barn since I have whacked the krats. Wife would rather have the krats than the snakes....they seem to have established a summer home in my hay stacks and she would like to have them evicted.

Bass really like small frogs and the frogs eat misquito larve, so I'm never sure what is the right thing to do.

The Hornet with the V-max will make an impression on the frogs....for sure!!

I lay on a piece of plywood. The damn Fireants would eat me alive in short order if I were to lay down on the bare ground. This is in my yard so the grass is very short all the way down to the waters edge. BTW these frogs are as big or bigger than the bass in the pond! Eeker

Have you guys got all this frog stuff straight? All I've been seeing in the press for a few years are scare stories by the frog-huggers, enviro-wackos, doo-gooders and quack scientists about deformed frogs, disappearing frogs, no frogs, fewer frogs, and apparently, bad canuckian frogs. Yet as a youngster out in the country I frequently ate frogs on day trips in the woods and pastures. and the little greenies and giant jumpers were everywhere.

I got two today and they were almost lined up for a double. Very impressive impact. 40gr. V-Max / 13.0 gr. of Lil Gun and CZ Hornet reamed to K-Hornet. They actually splattered the underside of my pier. What amazed me was the two frogs were inches apart. When the first one exploded and flew about five feet away the other one didn't even move. It was the last indecision he made. gunsmile

Dan is right that usually beaver is better, but sometimes frog legs are pretty good too, using the cat recipe above noted by Lowrider.

Certainly a pair of perfect shots...no damage to the legs. If you're serious about dinner, a 10" piece of bamboo with a 3" 4 prong gig on the end and a head lamp is the answer. Works best after an evening thunderstorm.....beaver is good anytime!!

Most leg is pretty good but always remember that beaver can occasionally be bad news.
