Just read this in my local paper today--what a shame, and a perfect waste of good targets. What do you want to bet that most of them end up back on the street?? And, "to improve the lives of homeless and feral cats"???? All of us have a simple thought not silent solution to that--right??? And "counseling for those dealing with feral cats in the community?" Give me a break. I wonder what would happen if DD's pet showed up - or Dragonlady?

Feral cat day

The San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition will celebrate National Feral Cat Day with a weekend of activities Saturday and Sunday.

Festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Nine Lives Books, 4919 N.W. Loop 410 in the Village at the Summit shopping center.

Tame kittens and cats rescued from feral colonies will be available for adoption. A bake sale will be held on Saturday, and decorative and household items will be on sale both Saturday and Sunday to benefit local rescue groups and feral-cat caretakers.

Individuals also will be on hand to counsel those in the community dealing with cat- overpopulation problems, and a video explaining the trap/neuter/release method of feral-colony control will be shown.

There is no admission charge, but donations to assist with feral cat care are welcome.

The goal of the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition is to improve the lives of homeless and feral cats and eliminate their breeding through humane trapping, neutering and returning to the environment.

To reach the organization's help line, call (210) 403-3767. To see some of the adoptable feral cats, visit http://www.san antonioferalcats.org.

Is the bake sale limited to cat recipes or will any type of home baking be accepted?
