Recently, while shopping at the local wallyworld, i came across a savage model 10 combo in 7mm WSM on clearance. Being somewhat of a gun nut, as I am sure couple of people here can relate to, I started pining for it, and I went back the next day and bought it. I am very curious as to what would happen if i was to shoot a crat with a 100 gr hollow pt at about 3600 fps. I am really anxious to experiment. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I don't have a large enough crat population to justify buying a whole box of 100 grainers so I will just have to try 120 grainers at about 3400. This should really do the trick. I want to make crat jello.

I think N.S.S. hit that one on the head.

Good luck Hugh, take pictures too!

N. S. S. - FYI I use to work with a gal who's true last name was Sherlock, she was as bizzare as water on Mars. roflmao

The Sherlock name is still an expression of truth, Ann, in some bizzare cases. N.S.

Old Elk Hunter was experimenting with sound effects. I was inspired. I think the combo will produce some very satisfying sound effects, but the visual effects would be much better. Ill likely be earing hearing protection anyway. Just ordered dies, and such and bullets from midway. Now to wait for a specimen.

Ya know, most people go thru life just following the assembly line, and never take a walk on the wild side. Frowner Well, most of you know that a 148 gr HBWC loaded backwards in a .38 Spcl. case has a of "Whop Factor". Smiler The next step to take when exploring the realm of FX and Acoustics is to load a Nosler Partition backwards in a hot rod magnumb. Eeker I guarantee it is plumb spectacular. beer

PS: Don't let the bunny humpers see this in action as they simply will not understand... thumbdown

Digital Dan, the fact that the bunny humpers wouldn't understand sounds like a good reason to let them see it.

There's nothing more satisfying than the pop of a stinger contacting it's unfortunate victim. thumb I have a book regarding german snipers in ww1+2,,It seems it was common practice for them to pull the bullets and seat them backwards,,,,for the "whop"factor,,,Clay

Well folks, I have two personal candidates for the "Whop Factor" quiz, although I have tried neither on cats. The first is the .604 " diameter pure lead round ball chased out a smooth bore tube by 90 grains of 2F. The second is a 510 grain patched slug out of the 50 Sharps 2 1/2" case propelled by 105 grains of the same 2f. Actually I think there is entirely too much whop for ranch cougars with either.(breaks my heart to say it!)

NS,

If you could get to PBR, with those powder loads, you would not need a bullet. There would be inverted, seared crat.

Hog Killer

PS: PBR in this case is, point blank range.
