Talking to a cousin in Florida yesterday. He has found a new use for cats. Out on the flats he wraps stainless steel leader with several treble hooks around one and then throws it out where they've seen Barracuda. All the commotion from the cat brings in the big ones. Works better than other live bait.
He says the surface strikes are spectacular.

All we got out here are salmon and they don't like cats. I could use them for sturgeon bait.

I think thats a great idea for live bait .

I think I will try it . But for bald egale.
And I will use a camera.
I have a egale that is nesting on my farm.
I have feed them chickens that stoped laying .
Just have to tie the cat in the same area and wait.

I think you should be commended for teaching our national symbol to have a liking for cats. Maybe your video can get on the national news. It may sway public opinion to have a more rational attitude about cats. Cats can be a resource to help preserve our endangered species. Maybe the feds will require people to turn over their cats so they can be used to supplement eagle diets. Your idea may really spread. Cats may become a food source for many species. What a great solution to the cat problem!!!

Johnch,

I noticed your Pheasants Forever line. I lived near the place in Oregon where Chinese Ringneck pheasants were introduced to the USA. The funny thing is that there basically aren't enough pheasants there now to be worth hunting. It is rare to see a pheasant. The farmers adopted a no fence row attitude and the massive fields no longer provide habitat. Add to that the large number of feral cats and you can understand why there aren't many pheasants left. Its a shame. If I really want to hunt pheasants I would have to come to the Midwest.

Or come north OEH. And if you are especially nice I will introduce you to stinky, my little black cat. By the way, she was reading over my shoulder yesterday and when she saw your comments about fleas and such, she said she hoped you got a near terminal hairball! roflmao derf

Derf,

Sorry to disappoint Stinky, but I am just about bald. No hairballs in my future.

I always wondered what the primary cause of death was for those things. That's what happens when you hire a woman to do a man's job I guess. roflmao
