I may have to get a cat.
The shame is almost more that I can bear but believe me when I say that dire curcumstances beyond my controll have brought me to this juncture.
My dog Grizz dissapeared a few weeks ago.
He was known to kill cats but unbeknownst to me he also defended the castle from the onslaught of field mice that sometimes plague us country dwellers.
This became obvious shortly after his dissapearance.
This seems to be mouse breeding season and as in any social/political confrontation certain ideals must be sacrificed for the greater good.

Get a terrier.
Get some rat snakes from the pet store.

DigitalDanGet a snake. Last time crats moved in on me I wound up getting a divorce.
I hate crats. Snakes are okay if they don't have venom. Lawyers are especially dangerous, be careful.

N. S. SherlockI could recommend one of those "cat" terriers to take care of the mice, AND guard against the appearance of any cats. You think mouse poop in the silverware drawer is bad, just wait till you get a cat.

Swamp_FoxPerhaps I will be saved from the ignomy of fratrenizing with crats.
No mouse sign in 24 hours.
8-9 in the traps plus the victims of the poison packs seems to have repelled the invasion.
Still looking for a lab mix pup. Nothing promising yet.

brassbThe glue traps work well. When you get a mouse on one, put it on a crat travel route and double your pleasure.
