See my buddy works at a farm and they have a lot of honey bees... well he has access to the bee pharamones...the ones that atract the bees, our plan is to put some on the cat and go out to the bee boxs and see if cats and bees mate ??? Wish I had a video cam for this.

While I applaud the spirit of this enterprise, I must inquire as to whether you fellas have thought this through? bewildered

I know it's long odds but what if the bees and crat are successful? Considered that crats and bees have long standing grievances against mankind it would be frightening to see a flock of Catbees headed your way. Fangs, claws, AND stingers extended, humming and hissing, Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyrie" in the background. If wouldn't be pretty...

Or would "Beecrats" be more appropriate? Confused

This experiment may be fatally flawed because the location is in Georgia, where the bees are easygoing southerners and not very mean or amorous toward cats. The test should be in one or more of the southern border states where the honeybees are part AFRICAN KILLER BEES! Those bees are going to get what they want from those perfumed cats or else. Why I remember the documentary about the Killer Bees that attacked El Gato Nuevo in 1989 and it was slaughter. People went crazy watching those bees attack Los gatos.

This is going to take a while to type.If they're the phermones I'm thinking of,,thery're queenbee phermones,,,the bees are going to swarm it yes,,,,but also protect the damn crat.It would be cheaper to grab the crat by the neck,,,and do a bowlingball pitch into the front of one of the hives,,,or put an empty super on top of a working hive,,,place crat inside then replace lid.My dad is deathly allergic to bees,,,,but he insisted on growing buckwheat,,which is very dependant on having a few strong hives of bees close by for good pollenation and seed set.So one winter he said let's go cut a tree boy,,,It wound up being a tree with a hive in it,,we moved the bees into supers,,,and they took a liking to it.Damn nasty little things,,,,A little smoke will subdue bees,,,RIGHT,,,I don't think a refinery fire would subdue those things. And that was part of the reason I hit the road. One time a buddy of mine went with me to watch me tend to the hive,,parked the car maby 25 yds. away,,,another friend saw us,,,pulled up behind,,,and jumped in with "friend"#1 up front,,,In the meanwhile my smoker took a shit and went out,,,I went to the car with a bazzillion bees buzzing around trying to sting the snot out of me,,and asked them to pass a book of matches,,,They replyed there was no way in hell they were even going to crack a window open,,,I had no choice,,,I bailed,,now they were boxed in,,,in a car with no a/c on a fairly warm september day,,They really showed how good they could yell that day wave. After an hour or so they settled down enough to get the hive back together And get the two guys out.
A year after I left home,,my dad confessed he hired a beekeeper to tend the hive,,,and he told him that was the nastiest hive he had ever dealt with,,He killed the queen and replaced with the most docile replacement he could find.Clay

How about dipping the crat in some diluted honey. Bees will go for it, will not defend it like it's their queen. Oh yeah, put the crat on a 10' leash in the middle of the hives.

Well heres the lowdown. Took the cat out to the farm put a few drops of the stuff on him and went out back to the bee boxes, low and behold they are in a fence to keep people out !!!! Held trap over it let the cat out and set back with a cold beer, took mybe 4-5 min for the bees to find out about it and started to mess with the puss, he didnt like it much. the more he ran around the more the bees swarmed him, all in all for about 10 min the cat was coverd in bees, then he got all worked up and went over the 6 ft high fence and tore out for the woods with a good amount of bees on and around him even at mock 3 !!! Cats look so funny when they run that fast with his legs kicked out to the side and his tail up in the air. Well other than us about to pass out laughing thats about it. Maybe next time we will strap a waigh to the cat so he cant run so damn fast...

Good job Short! Might I suggest a Danforth Anchor rather than a weight? Their holding power is awesome, second only to the CQR plow. Unfortunately the CQR is not available in convenient sizes. Frowner
