My trophies from South Africa finally arrived here in Korea. The crate arrived on Saturday morning from Johannesburg via Singapore Airlines. I knew going into this that one of two things would happen. Either getting the trophies released to me would be a royal pain or it would be remarkably easy. Luckily, it was remarkably easy. On Tuesday I went out to the Airport with a Korean friend and spoke to the customs agent. The agents main concern seemed to be CITES, which was the only word I understood in the conversations. After three hours of talking and going to different offices, it was determined that they might have to stay in quarantine for up to two weeks. However, today my Korean friend went back out to the Airport and was able to get them released to me, so they arrived at my house at about 5PM today. I know that I owe my friend about $600, but I’m not sure what it was for and don’t really care. I’m currently waiting for another friend to finish work and come over to help me get the last four out of the crate. So far I am pleased with what I’ve seen except for the stitching on the back of the Impalas neck; but it will never be seen when it is on the wall, so I’m not too worried. The crate is perfectly clean with no evidence of bugs or other wee beasties. The big question I have for Taxidermists is what should I use to clean/maintain them. There aren’t taxidermists here in Korea that I am aware of and I was unable to purchase any commercial cleaners last time I was in America. I should be able to get just about any type of chemical here for cleaning, so could mix my own if I knew what to use. The Magical Crate Klipspringer shoulder mount Impala European mount I've still got to get pictures of and hang: Impala and Gemsbok wall pedestals, Bushbuck and Warthog shoulder mounts, Wildebeest European mount, and Wildebeest and Zebra rugs.

Colin, Great that you got the trophies home. You should just check your text under the photos and swap the duiker and steenbuck. Keep em coming. Frederik Cocquyt I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Frederik, Thanks for catching that, it was late and I labeled the picture files incorrectly.

I've gotten them up on the wall tonight, I'm not sure if this is where they will stay. But, for now it works. I don't have much room to work with here in Korea, but the concrete walls do make for extremely secure mounting! Here's the wall with most of them. And the opposite corner with the impala and bushbuck. Anders, you are right it is nice to finally have them at the house. I'm very pleased with the pedestals, but need to find something better to replace the horrible plastic green stuff they have on them. It definitely looks fake.

Colin, I'm glad that your trophies arrived safely. I hope you don't have to move any time soon. Your impala is truly unique. NRA Life Member
