we had three earthquakes here this morning. 4.3 and two 3.4 it was like riding a roller coaster so glad to see my trophies still hanging not on the floor.

Kyler HamannGlad you made it through safely.
I've heard of a few different systems to try to keep trophies from bouncing off the wall.
Years ago I tried some sort of hook idea I thought of for my buffalo and kudu. But it was a really pain and I can't remember how I did it. It had to do something with rotating the heads 90 degrees as I hung them up and it wasn't pretty at the time, but I don't think they'll come off by just lifting anymore.
Recently I hung an elk head and didn't fool with any extra safety measures so I might be sorry when a quake hits.
I know the taxidermists in this area were sure busy with repairs when the last decent sized quake hit about 10 years ago.

dogcatThe 4.3 rattled me at 5:40 this morning. Strongest one I have felt.

MJinesOklahoma . . . the state with the most seismic activity in the Lower 48 in recent years (three times the activity for California). Must be all the fracking . . .

jdollarOK may have had more seismic activity but I bet the strength of individual quakes in CA was greater. Having lived through a number of 5.5 plus shakers in southern CA over 35 years I can definitely say I would have preferred OK....

EddieWalkerI lived in CA when we had the 7.1 quake in 1989. It was the strongest I have every experienced. All my mounts did fine. Most where mounted to sheetrock with mollys, but the heavier ones like my kudu and bison where on deck screws into the studs.

FrostbitWe've had plenty over 6.0 since my mounts have been up. quakes in the 4's we just ignore cause we get plenty.
Haven't had an issue with the mounts.

bhtkevinThe difference is houses and structures and built to withstand earthquakes in CA. Not sure about AK?
Oklahoma houses are built to withstand the air moving, not the ground
No doubt it's fracking.

FjoldWe just had a 4.8 a couple of days ago. The epicenter was 10 miles away.
Everything is still on the walls.

OTTOMATICEvery am when I wake up I check the news, weather, AR, &

from my observations the mid -east is over due.
Also fracking is definitely the cause

graybirdI think that's funny fracking is the sole cause for this. Can you provide the scientific data to support your statements as truth?
All of the world tectonic plates have been on the move (more than normal) for the past several years causing several earthquakes, tsunami, and volcanic eruptions. I guess fracking in Oklahoma caused these too? Do you think an event in another portion of the world could have a effect in another portion?

OTTOMATICWastewater can result from a variety of processes, including those related to energy production. For example, water is usually present in rock formations containing oil and gas and therefore will be co-produced during oil and gas production. Wastewater can also occur as flow back from hydraulic fracturing operations that involve injecting water under high pressure into a rock formation to stimulate the movement of oil and gas to a well for production.

So far all my heads stayed on the walls...

Far from it. The two are unrelated. I do this everyday and can assure fracking is not the cause.

Fracking the cause of earthquakes? NOT!!

meteThe anti-fracking types look for all kinds of excuses to ban fracking.
The recent Italian quake was caused by ever moving techtonic plates .
Closer to home the Ramapo fault in N Jersey has been creating many smaller quakes over many years . The earth is not static ,things are always happening !

7kongoniIt's a beautiful morning in Oklahoma--college football starts today and God gave us a wake-up call...a 5.6 scale earthquake!
