The wall to the right will have a plasma TV hung there. The holes in the wall to the left are for the surround system. Wired and ready to go. Just a little short on funds currently. Everything was designed by my wife. Room size is 27'x35'. Will post more pictures and details latter. I am leaving in 2 hours for Namibia.
Thanks to Kathy for posting the pictures.

Wow, that is impressive!

I thought about doing the grass ceiling/wood beam thing and didn't know if I could pull it off but that looks awesome.

The zebra/tusk pedestal is an incredible idea as well. I've never seen anything like that.

Thanks for posting.

Dr. C, what is the ceiling height?

Kyler

Wow! Nice and spacious. I think I will have to petition the town to sell me some of the greenspace behind my house to accommodate something like this! Love the fireplace!

Beautiful room!! The scale is very nice. Give some details on the ceiling. Is it made using simple grass mats or reed/bamboo window blinds? Or is it something more complicated? It's tough to tell from the photo's, but I bet we'll be surprised at home simply it was constructed using something we see everyday. I have the feeling someone was very ingenious and resourceful to get that look. I'm dying to know!

Thanks for all the kind comments. Again all my wifes design. The ceiling is thatch material with eucaplyptus poles. My wife acquired the material from a company in Florida that sells this material primarily to hotels and resorts.
Yes there is plenty of unused wall space. That means many more trips to Africa.
I just walked in the door returning from Namibia, where I acquired a few more for the wall.
Because my wife designed every detail of the room, I have stayed with her request that this room be only African trophies.
The North American mounts are in the lower level of the house.

Because, I am a complete computer illiterate, I will have to ask once again for Widowmakers help. When my wife recovers from our Namibia trip I will see if she can send the pictures.
Hopefully tomorrow.

As a bow hunter I do not attempt to impress anyone. It would be senseless to try to impress anyone. My trophies are simply reminders for me of places and adventures I have had.

Bow or not, Dr. C, your trophies look great. The room looks really nice and I’m sure the heads bring back many good memories. I purposefully route my trips through my house to see the few I have, just because it brings back terrific memories. It’s like a 20 second hunting trip every time I see them.

In fact, I don't remember Shootaway posting any of his/her own.... only commenting on everyone else’s'.

Kyler

Thank you for sharing this wonderful room with us. You are a class act and have demonstrated it, intentional or not.
Thank you.

You have some wonderful memories on the walls, and there is enough room for future dreams.

Congratulations and thanks for posting.

The thatch style was one of the first things I noticed. Pretty cool!
It also has to be one huge room to make a kudu, waterbuck and gemsbok look small.

Yep! It takes a large room to make a Kudu look small. Really love the ceiling. Very unique. I'm so jealous I can't stand it!
