I've got ivory on some revolvers and am trying to figure out how to keep it clean without discoloring it. I also have two sets of elephant tusks and am wondering how best to care for them as well. Have been putting a very light coating of clear wax on the tusks for years. Polishing them maybe 3 times a year. Sure is fun to enjoy the memories as I do that. Anyway, I'm trying 3 in 1 mineral oil on the revolver grips, with the idea that this clear oil will not discolor them. Would welcome any suggestions and already acquired wisdom from the members of this forum. Thanks!

products.com/conservators_wax.htm I wonder how conservators wax would work? This is the stuff that all the museums use I've used it on various things and it seems very good.

I just use Johnson's (clear) baby oil on mine occasionally but nothing else. FWIW, I've had an ivory bangle on my wrist for many years (actually can't get it off my hand nowadays) and I've never put anything on that at all.

Thanks,Shakari. Very good suggestion. And I'll bet your wrist smells fresh as a baby's bottom!

I don't put anything at all onto the bangle and I haven't been able to take it off of my wrist for many years..... I can only assume natural body oils stop it from drying and/or cracking. It sometimes drives me crazy but it has far too much sentimental value for me to have it cut off.
