Love that Hooded Merganser - nice! So is your best whitetail buck still at the taxidermist?

Who did your bear skull? I've got one I did a mediocre job on and haven't touched the one in my freezer yet...

Yes, my best buck is at the taxidermist(my brother). Been there a couple of years, don't ever put your stuff on the friends and family pile at the taxidermist. I had the bear skull done sonewhere else(thinking of name now), my brother would have made me do it and I was not into that that year.
A hunter should only shoot one Hooded Merganser in his lifetime.

Nice job on the bear rug. What training, if any, did you have? I've got a bear hide coming from AK in the next month or so -- smallish (a last day bear) but very well furred. I wonder if I could make a passable rug for my son.

Yeah, gotta agree with you on the merganser. I should've had mine mounted...'cause I felt obligated to eat it. Even the crock pot with orange juice concentrate didn't help much Wink

Other than a short stint as a plumber my brother has been a taxidermist all his adult life. I help him do the prep from time to time. The artistic stuff just does not happen with me. But with step by step instruction and a lot of time, I can turn out OK stuff for myself.
