I have a pair of spears that I would love to hang on the wall (Crossed like an X). Anyone have any suggestions for making the x and securing to the wall. The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense

Get some thin wire, preferably close to the color of the shafts. After you mark the key spots to have one wire high and one wire low on each shaft, wrap the wire around and close to the head of a screw that is long enough to get into a stud and then drive the screw flush or slightly countersunk into the wall. A 1" or 1 1/4" screw should work fine for drywall since the spears aren't that heavy. Then place the spear in place and wrap each wire around the shaft and twist tight so the twist is as close to the wall as possible. DO NOT twist too tight where you might break the wire. Snip off the excess ends. A second option that would mar the spears somewhat is to layout the spears in your X and mark the spots on the shafts where they cross studs. Then drill holes that are just large enough to take a finish nail in the shaft at those points. The length of the nail will have to be as long as the shaft thickness and wallboard, plus at least 3/4" or 1" into the stud. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Many thanks. I think I'm going to go with going through the x of the spears into a stud. I'll let you know how it works out. The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense

If you use only one anchor spot as you suggest, it could cause the spears to swivel if the screw or nail becomes loose. To avoid that, you can add a small nail under the spearheads where they join the shafts so they rest against it. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Whatever you do, make sure they are fastened securely. I walked into my trophy room this week, and one of my spears had fallen and broken in half.

Sorry to hear that. I bet you could get it back together with some clear epoxy. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris
