Hi Guys:

Well the wait is FINALLY over. The new remodeled trophy room is almost complete. It has been a very long 2.5 years waiting for my last four mounts to arrive.

They are the Giraffe, Sable, and Double Kudu mount. My poor blittle Steinbuck, another 8 point whitetail and my Dall Sheep horns are still there.

The Sable is 42 inches, and the Kudus are 50 & 51 inches respectively. Ahhhh the Buff is 46 inches and scored 115 SCI. The Whitetail scored roughly 190 + B&C and is featured in Booners Magazine end of September 2006.

Actually all 10 mounts from last Safari over two years ago was done at the same time, about 7 months ago, I commisioned the guy who did the first two pedistal bases for my Buffalo and Zerbra. Long story shory short, I paid him $2500.00 for three bases and a custom table and never seen one stick of the work. He screwed me royal and I got nothing in return. I then had to get someone else to create the bases all over again.

Hope you like the pics...

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think...

Regards... Jim P.

That's a heckuva blacktail (Alaskan?) deer mount as well. I love the giraffe mount and like what you've done with the back-skins on the floor.

Hi Guys:

Thanks for the compliments. Actually the room is bigger than it looks. I just can't get a shot with the camera to encompass the whole thing.

The Elk is no way a trophy class bull, but what I had to go through to get him myself made him a trophy to me. Some how some way I seem to always run into bears when I am out west. I ran into a big bear before the Elk, no I didn't have a bear tag or he would be in my trophy room also Smiler. Some day though.

Hi KG.. Yes skin.... my Taxidermist is a real perfectionist, he didn't do the Striper. I had it done by a Taxi on the Eastern Shore of MD. When my Taxi seen the fish, he said your not going to put that next to my stuff are you?..LOL

Hey Jeff: The Black Bull of Dingwall is finally home. Your picture is still there. Look at the third picture frame, through the doorway on left, see that picture on the fireplace hart... look familiar.

Jeff was in Africa, Zimbabwe, at a camp called Dingwall, the week before I was there. He actually took a picture of my Black Bull before I shot him. When we traded stories on AR, he sent me the pic of The Balck Bull of Dingwall, a real bad boy when it came to rouge Giraffes. He was sort of a local legend. I printed it out and framed it. I really do have a before and after, thanks to Jeff.

Nice! I like the way the pedastal kinda fill out the room, making it look more 'whole' than with only wall mounts.

WOW Jim.... VERY nicely done room... I've seen those before that are so overdone it's almost pathetic but this room is just awsome... I say very much worth the wait... How tall does your giraffe stand? I certainly do like the extensive use of freestanding mounts as I do woodworking myself and the work on those just looks outstanding...

Hi Heat:

The Giraffe stands about 13 feet from the floor. All the trophies on top of the pedistal bases that you see are mounted to the base on a steel pole. They all can turn approximately 150 degress, including the Giraffe, and Double Kudus!!

So if you don't like the way he is facing, just turn them the other way. Smiler

PAHunter,
I have to post again and give you another congratulations on your great collection of very beautiful mounts. Some of the best pedistals that I have seen.

After a year and a half, I finally got my Buffalo back from Zimbabwe. I have been trying to decide how to get him mounted, and after seeing your pedistal Buffalo, that's the pose that I want, so I've downloaded your picture to give my taxidermist.

Again, very well done!

BTW, nice kitty with your Buff.

Hi Buffy:

Thanks for the compliments. The pedistal that the Buff is mounted on aslo serves as Magazine and book rack. There is a door behind the Zebra skin and I keep all my Hunting albums and magazines in the pedistal base.

Just an FYI... the ripples in the skin from the neck to the shoulder were created by my Taxi. I watched him shoot caulking through a rubber hose on to the mount, then fold the skin of the cape inbetween to get the ripple effect.

Regards... Jim p.

Hi KuDu4u:

I hunted in Zimbabwe in 2004, with Zim Africa for my Sable, I think they may be out of business though. I know they had some major problems.

But I do know where I hunted them. It was a concession called Durshano. It is about two hours outside of Bulawayo. It was crawling with Sable. Mine is a 42 incher, but I saw bigger after I shot mine. The price tag at that time was about $3500 for a sable. I have a video of some Sable that were there, outstanding.
