After my second safari in '08 the wife told me that there wasn't enough room to hang the new shoulder mounts even before they arrived. It turns out that was wife speak for "There isn't any room where I'd like them to go so we need to add on to the house. While we're at it I want new carpet, tile, and granite counter-tops."

We added on a room, actually just using unused 2nd floor space. We knocked out the back wall of a closet and were able to get a roughly 14x16 foot room out of unused space.

View through knocked out wall.

Sheet rock going up.

View from what used to be a linen closet, and is now an entryway.

View from just inside room.

Larry as my step-daughter calls him, was moved from her bedroom to the new room. Best use for the slanted wall I could think of.

This is where I plan to hang the buffalo when it gets done.

Bushbuck looks kind of lonely, going to have to fill up the wall between the waterbuck and him. Unfortunately It's going to be a while because I have to finish paying off the construction and home improvements before I can go back and get him some company. Frowner

Very nice. You have quite a bit of reserved space for future displays. Well thought out and you've taken advantage of unused space in the existing house.
Now comes the fun part - sitting in the room thinking about what you're going hunt next.

very nice...

I got the same conundrum facing me. "You are NOT putting that Cape Buffalo mount in MY house...". And there are Kudu, Gemsbok, and Waterbuck mounts coming in November; along with a full mount caracal.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I will be able to post an update including the buffalo before Aug is over. Just waiting on the taxidermist.

One thing I didn't plan on with the addition; going to have to get a bigger A/C unit for the upstairs eventually; more square footage to cool. Frowner
