cooperjdnot a "trophy room" just yet, but my boy is home...
the wife and I just bought our first house together, and it has 18' ceilings in the entry way and living room. i've been living for the past 6 months without my elk, as he would simply not fit in the rental house. i mean we could not get him through the 100yr old narrow doors...
but we're getting settled in the new home, and even though she despises shoulder mounts (loves antlers and euros), she knows where he has to go. my office is next to the living room with 9' ceilings, so most of my stuff will be in there, and the one-day-finished basement/man room. the office is under construction, so pics of it later. but for now, my boy is finally home!

cooperjdpagosa i'd put 30 heads on those walls if i were allowed...and if i had 30 heads.
but i think he does look really good alone up there, really shows him off. i'm surprised how massive he looks in person even on such a big wall

EddieWalkerI'm planning on going 16 feet high for my trophy room, so it's good to see what an 18 foot wall looks like. Makes me think I'm going to be OK with 15 feet.
Congrats on your new home, that's a great first animal for the wall!!!!

cooperjdyeah you should be ok. for reference he is right about 5' tall from bottom of chest to tip of the tallest antler; and his chest is just a touch over 9' from the floor. he might be a little too high. but there is so much wall space we tried to find a spot where there wouldnt' be too much room above or below him.
I have a question for those of you with mounts that are way up high: how do you keep them clean? I have a living room ceiling that goes fro 9-14 feet and have several shoulder mounts on the walls. (My wife is very kind about indulging me; she calls it our wildlife museum.)
I end up having to get up on a pretty tall ladder at least a few times a year to keep the dust and cobwebs off. It's a pain. Anyone have another easier method they use?

69deerNice elk. Those daggers are huge! for what its worth, I use an extendable lightbulb changer and tape a duster to it. I can clean my mounts without getting the ladder out.
That's one Heck of a start! Great bull

dogcatA good redecorator, (African agent) , can fill those walls darn quick! I could see a buff or two, waterbuck, kudu, Nyla, maybe a Lord Derby eland,....

cooperjdits that endless money part that i havent' figured out how to get yet...with that it would be a much more "worldly" room.
in the office (the door in the pic) is where most of my shoulder mounts will be. right now its just a mulie and antelope. soon my pedestal impala and euro b.wildebeest will show up, and a couple whitetails when i make another cross country drive to pick them up from my folks house.

As much fishing and hunting that you do I'm surprised that great bull is so lonely!
Hey, new bride and all, she married a hunter-fisherman. She'd damned well better get her priorities straight on game mounts. Don't tell her I'm the one that said so, she might waylay me whenever I'm invited in that fine mansion.
How high is the ceiling in the basement?
We built a 30'x 30' room on but, only 8' ceiling. That don't work worth a damn. Nice muley buck, 2 pigs, deer horns and antelope horns fill the only wall space in the whole room. Barely 8' wide.
Dad's moose, blk bear, caribou and elk rack are in the shop 13'6' walls there. but, it's mighty dusty from all the grinding and other work I do out there. Don't know the cure, like you, lack of funding.
