Very nice!!

I keep telling my gf that when we buy a house, I need to have a room with a high ceiling for my trophy room. She disagrees, because normally, this would be the rec room in most homes.

Guess I'm gonna have to have an addition built, instead.

I like the kudu slightly looking toward each other. I just got my 2nd 10 pt. whitetail buck back from the taxidermist. He has this one looking right. The other one is looking left. I have them looking away from each other, but from what I saw with your kudu's, I'm going to switch them around.

Someday (maybe next year), I'll be able to get a couple of african trophies for the wall.

Great room, Thanx for letting us in. One thing I realise, that they are dead animals yes, but most of all, they are living memories. I am sure you sit in your room, and remember evey situation that happened while hunting each animal.

Amazing is about the best word I can use to describe your trophy room. You must have a very understanding wife. My wife squeals about the couple of mounts I do have. I hope to someday accomplish a fraction of the amazing hunts that you can sit in that room and relive the memories. My hat is off to you.

Thanks M1. Also thanks for your service. I don't want this to sound wrong but my wife has nothing to say about it. I built the house for the trophy room, there was nothing wrong with my other one except a small trophy room. She can have the rest of the house but I have this room. I have been very lucky and have some good friends that have helped.

Mike it is a comfort to see your trophy room a man of your vast African experience must give good referances and I used your word in large part to book with Vaughan. We are hunting with Vaughan May 17 to 31. Any of the trophies come from Vaughan's area ?

Thank you very much Sanwise. My trophies from Vaughan's area are not back from the taxidermist. However several of the trophies were taken in another area guided by Vaughan. The large kudu on the upper left of the front wall was taken with Vaughan.

I showed my wife the pics and she just gave me the "eye roll" and some crack about men and killing things to look at. She doesnt get it she is slowly coming around. That is what a Idaho farm boy gets for marrying a city girl. There is still hope for though since she is showing some interest in hunting Africa with me instead of just sight seeing. She does like her 1st fish she cought that I had mounted, 19" German Brown cought on the 1st cast.

Hello William,

Looking at the room is one thing, if she could see the mounts in person you will have her. I have had many people that are not pro hunting but after seeing my mounts they are enthralled, they say they are like art works.

I whole heartedly agree with you about being works of art. And what is even more meaningful for me is the memories they represent.

Mike that is one of the most tastefully done trophy rooms I've seen. Wonderful. Great trophies too. By the way, I really enjoyed our conversation about hunting with Vaughan. Thanks.

One of the things that I think is so great about your trophy room is that it looks like you could actually be in the room and mingle, sit, talk, etc. and be very comfortable. It is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Canuck and Shannon. The room has plenty of floor space. We have had numerous parties especially for L.S.U. football, with 50 plus people attending.

Here is a picture of my trophy room. Some of these were very difficult take as the animals are dangerous that hang out in these places and don't give'em up easy.

The room is 30 x 38, walls 12ft and it is 20 foot to the center of the ceiling. I am not sure if you can see the partition but it extends from the ceiling down to the top of the walls in the room center. It was added to give extra wall space. I have 5/8 plywood behind the sheetrock on the walls and the partition.

Thanks for the dimensions. We are supposed to start construction on an addition that will be 30x30 or 25x35 in October. We are doing 12 foot walls with 3/4 inch plywood backer on the walls. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make it bigger! I just finished one at 22'x32'. My cook wanted it bigger, I really didn't disagree, but only had so many $'s. It's already pretty full. It can be a challenge if you're not a builder yourself. Forget all your weekends and evenings for a looooong time! Decide how many electrical outlets you want, then double the number--same with lighting.
