Thanks, much JDS. I've asked for a catalog from Jonas. Couldn't get the photo off the internet site.

I'm trying to help my taxidermist out a bit, since the bases he used to get are now difficult to find. We'll see what we can come up with. Meanwhile, the tusks should ship in the next couple of weeks.

Hi Greg,
Not that I'm thinking along the same lines.... but:
Something wood and clean is what I'm thinking now, with maybe a metal band. How much are you going to polish the tusks? Do you want to completely get rid of the gum line mark or just soften it? Are you going to coat them with anything (sealant)? I know pigs tusks crack like crazy in a few years.

This is a link for tusk bases shaped like an elephant head. It's not quite what I was thinking about but it might give you an idea:
Van Dykes

This is a link for bases that look like an elephant foot. I had originally thought of doing this with the real feet but my wife has other ideas for the feet and after seeing this I'm not too fond of it:
Jonas

This is a link for several manufactured bases but there are no pictures:
Western

Please post or email any other pictures or ideas you come up with.

How about some of those artificial tusks as extensions??? If we added some of those 5' long replicas we could say they 170lbs. each easy.

Mine aren't due as soon as yours (long story), but that reminds me to check on them again.

Take care,
Kyler

Detcord,
I went to the web site, but didn't find anything regarding elephant tusk pedestals. Can you point me in the right direction?
