Would some of you be so kind as to post some pictures of your cape buffalo pedestal mounts? I just got the word from Zim that my trophies are ready to ship and I want to have my buffalo pedestal mounted. Thanks.

Hey Bwana,

Good choice thumb

I saw one at DSC many years ago that sealed the deal for me.

I have asked Jerry to do two Buffalo pedestals for me. My wife has asked me where I intend to put these pedestals!

Just remember, they are huge. ... I am still not entirely sure where to put mine ... bewildered

Here is a couple photos of my first cape buffalo. This mount was done in 1996 by Conroe Taxidermy. They do a better version of them now. (Fancier bases with zebra hides etc.) But the pedestal definitely gives you the ability to move things around.

Best regards, D. Nelson

Here is 46in. Buff Taken in Tanzania 2002. This Buff is mounted to a steel pole in the pedistal base and can swivel over 90 degrees from back to front so you can put the base anywhere you want. The flash from the camers gives it at pinkish cast. But you can still see the great detail in the mount.

The base door behind the inlaid zebra hide opens up and I store all my African Hunting Albums in there. It works out great.

Tendrams;

Yes, it is leopard print carpeting!!! It is the very durable type of carpeting, not indoor outdoor, but along the commercial grade. While I was trying to find the right carpeting for my new trophy room and after looking through a million carpeting sample books...I saw this and took a wild gamble and it really worked out. The pattern is so repetitive, many people don't even notice it the first time they see the trophy room. Not sure it is a positive or negative, but if you drop anything on the floor, you'll never find it (good for dirt)!

Regards, D. Nelson

Mike,

Those are outstanding! I may have to get a "friend" for mine! But not sure I have a big enough space to put a "double" in.

Mike,
I really like the double buff mount... Rocky has done you well, sir! But between the buff and leopard you are looking at some serious remodeling or a brand new house! I am surprised the Missus hasn't pulled that on you yet! Great work my friend!

All nice mounts. You can tell the differences in all of them. Eye placement, coloration, facial features... Some look grey, others black. I know what i like, just don't know how to pick the taxidermist that will make it happen.

This post is so vague it may be worthless, however, someone may be able to fill in the blanks. At DSC 2008 there was a company, located somewhere around college Station,I think, that made some very nice pedestals.I lost the contact info and did not see them this year, but man were their products great looking
