Folks, I have two aborigional spears (rather long) that I want to display but don't quite know how to go about it. Does anyone have some pictures of spears they have mounted? ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

i've got them 2 ways, one is hanging on a fireplace mantel, and the other is a pair crossed in front of a pedestal mounted waterbuck/hartabest combo

Thanks Butchloc, don't have a photo of the crossed pair do you? Mine are pretty long and I tried to cross them behind my water buff mount but I may have to cut one in half and make a bracket to make them sit flat. ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I would try mounting them with the outer spear set out from the wall and see if you can live with it. I would think the display would be ruined if one spear was cut in half, JMO. Please post some photos when you can. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. This is the best display of spears i have ever seen in my life. I know you've only got 2 but you may have some other things that would go along with them like in this one. This is Karen Blixen's house in Denmark.

the spears are about 6' long, but by the time you add the height of the pedestal to the height of the hartabeast and waterbuck there isn't much difference. i think it would be quite hard to do it on a wall mount

That looks great BaxterB JBrown, what I'm thinking is to get a square of wood (ply) and route a cross through it. One spear will be whole and sit in a groove, the other will be cut. This way they'll sit flat. Then they will be centered behind the mount. I don't really want to cut one but just crossing them over just doesn't work as they don't sit well. ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. Bakes. I also have some aboriginal spears (4) and have been struggling to come up with a way to display them. Mine are all about 2 m long and my dad collected them from the Western desert in the 70's. I have also got some throwers , boomerangs and shields that he collected at the same time and ideally I want to display them all together but can't seem to get it to work. I do like that picture of the mounts in the post. Let me know how your works out. I am not keen to cut mine. Best Steve
