Hey Bruce B., glad to see you over here. Thanks to Felix, I found my way. I posted again about the .416 Rigby, went back the next night for the answer, and NO MORE Shooters. You gave me some great information, but have you used IMR 4198, Green Dot, or Unique behind the 350 gr. lead bullets? If so, please tell me what to load to achieve 1500 - 1800 fps. Thanks in advance, Vince from MO.

Howdy, Fr.......er, Vince. I'm afraid that my "slower-lower" experience with the Rigby is VERY limited, like: NONE. I've been working exclusively with speeds in the 1800-plus (WAAYYYyy"plus") area. This wasn't by design, just the needs of the situation. The first loads for my then-new .416 were designed for Woods Bison, and reduced loads aren't the right medicine for those fellers, believe me. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try the 400/2600 load on a live critter, but I wuz READY. However, I do have some empty brass in the shed and a few days-off coming up next week, so I WILL try a few recipes I've had in mind for a while. I do believe that I'll start with the 4227/2400 area for burn rate, at least to start with, and most likely with dacron fill as well. Time permitting, some 5010 and 872 may also get some attention to establish ballpark figures as to what may be expected. 4198 would also seem to be a candidate. The Rigby-caliber rifles with those 1500-fps-area loads should be very enjoyable to shoot, and I'm looking forward to trying it. Thanks for energizing me (although you'll note that I haven't done anything....YET!) It occurs to me that this will probably be the first major loading program actually carried out onn Der Schuetzenwagen's bench at the range, due to my limited supply of that expensive brass. Should be interesting. Regards from BruceB (aka Bren Mk1)
