Be sure to let us know how they shoot. I almost ordered one myself but decided to hold off as I am new to cast bullets and didn't want to get myself in too deep with a new design. I'd heard that they may be to long for the short throated Yugo '48 so I didn't want to take the chance. Thanks,

Tell more, What weight? gas check? I've looked at the midsouth page but I cant read the fine print. Is it designed for the long throat in a K98 or should one order the 215 Karibina Max

I've got 9 of the older 98's. German, BRNO, and Yugo, some of all of them. At the price for the single cavity mold to be less than $20 including shipping, I couldn't pass on it! I'll find one of them to shoot it. I've just had a 98/22 D&T for scope and had the barrel cut back to 24", I had to cut that much to get back to the rifling. It had cleaning rod cancer! I hope this one is the one that makes it. Mike

45 2.1 who is the man who drew the 8mm Max and the Karabiner bullets actually drew the Karabiner to very tightly fit the ball-cone seat throats of the Yugo 48 & 48A guns. They "correctly" slide in and fit the older full length Paul Mauser Military standard throats, but 45 2.1 personally shoots a Yugo 48 and he wanted the Karabiner to be an outstanding forced-fit target bullet in those guns. It force fits them just fine too, but Midsouth was a little chicken on making that claim since it is a bolt closing forced tight target fit instead of the normal "slide it in easily until it stops" type fit. So now you know. As far as the 8mm Maximum, it is really 250 grains (using WW metal) after you lube it. LEE reported the weight to Midsouth cast in linotype & completely unlubricated, so it was listed a bit light on the Midsouth web page. It shoots very well, but tends to kick a bit in the upper level loadings as it is a very heavy 8mm bullet. The 8mm Maximum is a demonstratively better elk bullet than almost all cast 35 Whelen bullets. Only Wally Bator's heavy 360 grain bullet has the potential to outdo it, but Wally's mold is no longer being cut as you really needed to re-throat your 35 Whelen to get the bullet to hang out far enough to put a maximum charge of powder in there behind it. Properly throated, Wally's big 35 was the king of the elk cast bullet heavy weights, but as of delivery of the 444 Terminator mold that is no longer true. Not that you can buy that 444 wildcat gun from a dealer, mind you, so for stuff you can buy stock and shoot without rethroating, etc. the 8mm Maximum cast bullet is still the "most" you can actually buy outright in a purely stock gun format.
