The monetary gift was received a day or two ago from an incognito someone postmarking in eastern TN. It's his thought that counts, and is very much appreciated. I hope the lube presented turns out to be just as worthy. Many thanks, sir!

Felix,

I hand lubed ten 311284 bullets (224 gr w/ gas check) with FWFL and fired them this morning out of my 1896 Krag. Average Velocity was 1993FPS ES-24 with SD-7.5. Accuracy was just great. All stayed in the 10 ring of an SR-1 target at 100 yds. The accuracy limiting factor I believe to be me in this instance.

With this particular load / rifle I can not attribute any difference at all in performance to the lube. The lube I've been using is 50/50 Alox.

I've got a load I've used in the past with my 03 Springfields that seems to start to lead a bit right at around 2200 fps with a 311334 200gr bullet. This occurs mostly in the summer when the temperatures get up around 105+. I found that by adding Liquid Alox to the ogive of the bullet I could continue shooting at the high temperatures but I prefer not to have exposed lube if I can help it, Then again I also prefer not to shoot in 105+ degree weather but I do.

I'll have to cast some 311334's to try you lube on them soon.

Felix, Thanks again, great job.

Have Fun, JCherry

Played around with several tubs left over. Yes sir re, one level tablespoon of lanolin plus one level tablespoon of vaseline or babyoil or lanolin (in that order) plus one level TEAspoon of very fine Ivory will really do the trick for a much softer lube. High temps will go down slightly when so diluted, but probably won't be noticed in practice, even in 100 degree heat. ... felix

Those ammendments above are on a ONE tub basis. Merge the two tubs sent, and double the above except for the Ivory. It should be a Half-TEA-spoon of Ivory per tub in the formula above. [Wink] ... felix

Felix,
I hand lubed up a bunch of 311291s with a bit of my shipment "as is" (no remelting) and loaded them over 31 grains of CMR 100 in Winchester 300 Savage cases for use in my peep sighted Savage 99. It was about 20 degrees out when I shot them this morning. After I got zeroed in, I fired 2 - 3 shot groups from the bench at 100 yards, one went 1.75", the other just a bit tighter. If you had superimposed them, all 6 rounds would be grouped in under 2 inches. I can't do better than that with iron sights. I'm guessing the velocity must be in the 1900-2000 fps vicinity. There is no sign of leading after firing 15 rounds. The the boolits weigh 182.5 grains, lubed and checked as the alloy is a bit soft, 2 parts wheel weights, 1.5 parts pure lead. I believe I now have a great hunting load for this rifle. I had been able to get 1.75- 2.25" 5 shot groups with this rifle and boolit when tumble lubed and loaded in the 1500-1600 fps area but when I approached 2000 fps, groups open up to 3-4". This is a great beginning. Thanks for everything.

felix, The genuine FWFL arrived while I was gone. Appears to be about the same hardness as my version of FWFL, but stickier. Thanks again to you, Sundog, Mrs. Felix and anyone else involved in the production. Regards, Woody

The post office is getting leary over these wrapped around packages. I have had several returned, and now I see they are being delivered late. They will take them OK (for now) if they have no visible tape on the outside. So, wrap up the contents in a package within the skin! ... felix

Felix my batch made it through customs even though they were so confused that it came in as a cosmetic lotion!! I don't see the cosmetic benefits of lube so I will just continue to apply it to bullets. THANKS from the great white north.

felix,
just keep shipping. like i said when i first introduced this method, the envelop has no rules on it reguarding tape, just fill and ship. i ship most of my pacakages with a single wrap in each direction. the neater the better. next time they say something , politely ask to see the rules( they may exist, but a) they aint on the envelop, nd B) i've never had someone produce a copy .

Depends on the individual Post Office and its staff. Mine doesn't worry about tape - in fact they LIKE having tape over the address block so it doesn't smear of scrape off. I certainly wouldn't even THINK of sending a PriMail packet with something bulky and irregular - or heavy - in it without taping it all over, even over the "tear-off" opening strip tabs. floodgate

I thank all of my fellow boolit casters for making such things possible. 45nut

I'm gonna start making heavy cardboard inserts that are heavily taped and stapled that just fit inside the mailer and smear the insert with glue just before I drop it in. They're gonna be hard put to whine about that one or to tear it up.

Some observations about FWFL:
That stuff has an affinity for... Well, just about anything! It sticks, and doesn't want to come off!

When doing the melt/combine thing in the microwave, use an oven mitt! That Pyrex glass gets HOT!

FWFL sure makes a mess when you spill it. Did I mention that it sticks to most anything? Did I mention the container gets HOT, in the microwave?

It ain't a bad furniture, counter top, cabinet, and floor polish. At least it leaves a pretty fair shine, after you wipe/scrub up small(?) areas of hot lube spilled!

Dogs don't appreciate being polished very much.

It goes a LOOOOOOONG way! A little bitty bit of HOT lube will cover an amazing amount of surface.

Probably the best way to handle FWFL, is to heat SMALL amounts, and pour that into your Lubrisizer. Making sticks probably ain't worth the time... Unless you need to polish everything in the kitchen - including the dog!

I just had to share this. It wasn't really as bad as it sounds. "She Who Must Be Obeyed" kinda had a hissy fit, though. And exiled me to the garage, for future lube adventures. At least while she's home [Big Grin] >>>>>>>>>>Bug

BTW, It even looks like this stuff is gonna make a pretty good Bullet Lube! Now that I finally got to that point!
