There are probably four excellent sites on the web concerning these guns. The Swiss is, I'm told, very easy to convert from rimfire to centerfire. If you e-mail me I'll look up where you can find the instructions and send you bookmarks. The ammunition is also easy to make. Buffalo Arms has everything you might need. My gun had been converted before I bought it.

KLW, Thank's for your post's. As you indicated Buffalo Classics has the brass and dies for the Vetterli, if I decide to actually reload. I was also able to get some additional info on an "Italian Gun" forum. Hopefully I didn't mislead you on the condition of the rifle, when I referred to it as a "beauty" I was being extremely generous. The metal I believe is in great condition for it's age,it is a centerfire with a bore that slugs out at .427 and no appreciable throat wear. The stock however looks like it has seen everyday of its 100+ years of existence. Thanks again for all your assistance.
