I'm another newbie to cast bullets in rifles. Got a .35 Whelen Handi-Rifle and want to play with cast from 180 to 250gr. I know you basically don't want to drive cast as hard as jacketed, but in my mountain of manuals I can only find loads for jacketed. Looking for a source of loads for cast. Got a lot to learn here. There's absolutely no cast bullet data for the 375 Whelen so I used jacketed bullet data for the 35 Whelen.
Use the 220 grain jacketed loads for the 250 grain.
With the bore diameter difference etc. pressures shouldn't get out of hand.
It worked for me.

I have no first hand experience with .35 anything! Now, having said that--if I am faced with choosing a starting load for a cast bullet and there is no (cast) information available, I use the starting load for the next heavest jacketed bullet from the manual. While cast, being softer than copper, is very forgiving, the profile of the bullet must also be considered. Have a great day!

Tons of reliable data on the 35 Whelen on the Internet for Cast bullets. I have 250 and 280 grain to share if needed.
Look for loads that end up with a muzzle velocity between 1600fps and 2200fps.
Great cast bullet round!

I'm pretty sure the Lyman cast bullet handbook has data for either the 35 whelen or the 350 rem mag. Since the whelen and rem mag have almost identical capacities, I've used the data interchangably with cast loads.
