Do any of you guys have a favorite load with 210 cast bullets w/o the gas check. These will be just for fun and not hunting rounds. Oh yeah, I have lots of Unique powder that I don't wont to get any older. It has the Hercules name on it. Anybody know when they switched to Alliant. Thanks and God Bless, Louis

Typically I'll run 9.5 gr of Unique behind a 210 gr plain based cast bullet for plinking loads. If you go any higher than that, I'd probably switch to H-110 for a full house load. (I have an old 6" bbl M57 Smith with a pinned barrel and recessed jugs, and new 3" round butt M657.) Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Thanks Mike, I will be pouring powder in a few minutes. A buddy of mine has a "home invader" course set up and I am taking my 1968 57 that sounds like yours. It is pinned and recessed also. My buddy didn't really want my hunting loads shreadding his toys. We are going to start around dinner. You could probably make it if you were to leave now. My cell # is 336-657-1244. my favorite 41 mag load has allways been a 230 swc and 8.5 grains of unique or 9 of herco. Its a mild recoiling load that will still take care of deer sized game with no problem

If you have time to work up a load start with 7gr of Unique and work up to the level of recoil and power you want. Ten grains being about max. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Thanks guys, I used 9.5 grains of Unique and a plain base 210 gr Tru-flite bullet. That load fit the sights with out having to adjust. Previous load was with Win 296 and Hornady 210 XTP. I will try some for accuracy when I get a chance and may just have a new deer cartridge. God Bless, Louis

Louis, Glad to hear the day went well! Great to have a load that works with the sights the way they are. Hope you get good groups with them as well. Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Knifemaker, http://www.mstarling.com

If you want a "38 special" strength load that is incredibly accurate and you can shoot all day, might I recommend the 195 grain Lee semi on top of six grains of Unique. My eyes won't support it any more, but we used to shoot the heads of dandelions at about 25 feet. On another occasion, I was able to shoot one ragged hole during the "quick six" at the 7 yard line. That's six shots in twelve seconds. All this done with a S&W Mod 58 with fixed sights. Anyhow, that load was so accurate it made even me look good! Seven grains of Unique with the 210 cast shoots well in both of my S&W .41 mags. Recoil is mild, for a mid-range load, I load nine grs. of Unique velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.
